Nachdem wir bereits die beiden neusten Kühler von Alpenföhn in zwei Reviews ausführlich vorgestellt haben, folgt heute ein weiterer Test eines Kühlers von EKL. Obwohl der Gletscherspalte schon etwas älter ist, ist er der aktuelle Top-Flow-Kühler von Alpenföhn und dank neuem Montagematerial auch für die aktuellen Sockel verwendbar. Mit der Sandwich-Bauweise und sechs 6-mm-Heatpipes soll der Gletscherspalte für eine gute Kühlung des Prozessors sorgen. Ob dies gelingt, erfahrt ihr auf den folgenden Seiten.
The introduction of the latest X58 and i7 platform has meant that a whole new mounting mechanism for the LGA1366 socket has been developed. The influx of coolers is now extremely vast with the predominate theme of the coolers featuring aluminium fin stacks and U-shaped heat pipes. One such design that has had great success is the Noctua NH-U12P; instead of redesigning a whole new cooler for the i7 platform as some companies have chosen to do, Noctua have stuck with the tried and tested NH-U12P creating a special edition with an adjusted accessory bundle specifically for the LGA1366 socket. Today for review I've got a CPU cooler for my Corei5 750 Socket 1156 CPU from Thermaltake called the Contac 29. This cooler truly surprised me in its performance, I put it up against the Noctua NH-U12P and got virtually the same results in CPU temperatures. Just recently we all got to see the awesome capabilities Scythe is able to produce with the Ninja 3 SCNJ-3000, which just so happens to be the new leader in the air cooling game with two fans. Before that, the last submission from Scythe was the Yasya SCYS-1000, which has a fair amount to do with the cooler we are going to look at today. The main idea, in a nutshell, was to take the ideas from the Yasya and twist things around, offering a cooler with a change in direction, and doing so with the need for less room to house this cooler.

With more and more laptop coolers passing through our doors, I have seen enough to get a basic feel for the market. Some coolers look like space ships with bulky plastic and rubber pieces and get surrounded by LEDs; some with and some without lighting control. If I was a teenager again, these things would all appeal to me, and at that point I know noise wasn't as much of an issue for me back then, but with lots of other things going on in the world around a PC, I like to see performance without making my ears bleed in the process.
