A heatsink that breathes, say what? Yep today I've got for review the Zaward Vapor120 that is a breathable heatsink On the heatsink fins are dimples that allow the cooler to breathe thus improving heat exchange efficiency by up to 30%. Does it work? Well that's what we're here to find out. I'm testing it on my Corei5 750 CPU and i've put it up against a couple other coolers for comparison, so read on to learn more about this cooler and see how it performs..

Zaward's Vapor 120 heatsink is another in a long list of thermal solutions to feature an exposed heatpipe mounting base. The concept is simple, but we've discussed it many times on Frostytech so let's jump ahead to the Vapor 120's truly unique attribute - fin dimples. To be specific, punctured spherical dimples.

The Vapor 120 performed impressively. The Dimple Effect on the fins appeared to do its job, as the Vapor 120 uses only three heat pipes, albeit using Heat pipe Direct Touch, and stayed on par with other heat sinks using four heat pipes and a much larger fin array.

The Zaward Gyre (ZCJ010) is a box of a heatsink. There is of course adequate clearance around the CPU socket for memory and VRM heatsinks and such, but at first glance it's not exactly clear how the Gyre works. A 120mm fan rests on top of the heatsink, but all four sides of the 110mm tall cube are wrapped in smokey grey plastic. Making the heatsink even more perplexing, the 120mm fan blows perpendicular to the direction of the aluminum fins.

Many of you wouldn’t have heard of Zaward before and don’t feel disheartened if you’re one, they’re a fairly new company specializing in specifically computer cooling. One of the most innovative products in their catalogue is what’s called the ‘Golf Fan II’. Unlike most case fans, the Golf Fan 2 features a patent golf-ball-like texture on its fins which according to Zaward reduces noise levels by 15% at the same RPM and airflow. Now I’ve reviewed a lot of case fans in my day and many boast large claims like this, to find out whether Zaward’s marketing department are not just playing about, let’s put it to the test and find out whether it’s true to its word.

Back in 2006, Zaward implemented a patent for dimpled surfaces on the impeller of a cooling fan, and followed up with the release of their Generation 1 Golf Fans to the market. The distinctive shape of the GOLF FAN has become a trademark of Zaward products and has been reused by companies like Sharkoon & Rosewill with cooling fans, heatsinks, and power supplies. Today we get to look at the brand new Generation 3 Golf fans from Sharkoon and test their performance for ourselves!

Today I've got an exciting review for you, well not really, it's a fan, how exciting can that be right? It does have an interesting design though, the blades are dimpled like a golf ball and supposedly reduce noise levels by up to 15%, while still running at the same speed and providing the same amount of air flow as other fans. The fan is a 140mm fan from Zaward called the Golf GII, so read on to check it out.
