In today's market you are spoilt for choice when buying a CPU cooler, if your budget is £15 or £115 there will always be something out there for you, sometimes it may be in the form of air cooling with improved air flow over a stock fan, and some user's may go for the all-out water cooling or phase change products, but that all depends on how much stress they are willing to put their components under.

The nPowertek TTIC NPH-105 heatsink is an interesting CPU cooler because it is constructed with 6mm diameter copper heatpipes (two) and a not so common 25mm diameter copper 'heat column' that is capable of moving a lot of heat on its own. A heat column is like a big heatpipe and it conducts heat in much the same way, but with a larger surface area in contact with CPU heat source and the heatsink's cooling fins.

Overall the Zalman VF3000F at US$60 is a great alternative to Nvidia's stock cooling solution. It does a good job of keeping the maximum temperatures low while not compromising silence. From the instructions to the single heatsink plate, the forethought is evident and the thermal testing proves this aftermarket product is a worthy upgrade.

We tested the Deepcool Ice Matrix 600, a CPU cooler with tower design, six "side-by-side" heatpipes and a 140 mm fan. Check it out!

When looking at the entire picture, Deepcool’s Ice Matrix 400 is a spectacularly assembled piece of equipment. Combining four heat pipes with a simple 120mm fan, the heat sink does well at keeping the CPU at acceptable operating temperatures.

We haven’t done many CPU cooler reviews here on TestFreaks, but I hope to change that, at least add some more from time to time. Evercool sent me two for review recently and that first I’ve got for you is the Buffalo that’s compatible with LGA1156 and LGA1136 platforms. The Buffalo is a rather small aluminum and heatpipe style cooler with a bright red fan on it, and for its size it performs admirably well.

Zalman really has it going on with the new 11X Extreme. The five composite heatpipes and the innovative design allow its fan to provide some excellent cooling with very reasonable acoustics. Really, the only complaint I have about the 11X is the mounting solutions. While the cooler is very secure with this mounting scheme, I miss the ease with which most previous Zalman coolers could be installed, even inside the case.

Everyone has a portable computer of some kind, whether it is a notebook or netbook. They range in many different sizes but the overall idea is generally the same. Some are more aimed towards the business user, whilst some are focussed on home use and others are geared towards the extreme gamer offering unparalleled performance in a small form factor design.
