We tested Tuniq Tower 120 extreme CPU cooler, which has a tower design with five heatpipes and a 120-mm fan inside the heatsink. Check it out!

It's been a while since we've seen a CPU cooler at Bigbruin.com, but today we have one of the more popular coolers on the market - the Cooler Master V8. Even though the V8 was launched in June of 2008, it is only now beginning to see its true potential thanks to the popularity of the Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, and the tremendous amount of heat they can produce.

It has been just over a year since we've had the opportunity to review a Zalman cooler, so you can imagine our excitement when Zalman shipped us one of their latest products; the CNPS10X Performa heatpipe cooler. Like all of its brethren in the CNPS10X series, the Performa sports a copper base, multiple heatpipes, a ton of aluminum fins, and a very quiet 120mm fan.

Dynatron's Genius G950 heatsink stands a modest 148mm tall and weighs 795 grams. The heatsink makes use of two independent array's of aluminum fins, positioned fore and aft of a single 120mm PWM inset fan. The fan spins by default at a speed of 1600RPM, but will run fairly effectively at 1000RPM as well. Four 6mm diameter heatpipes support the aluminum fins, which have received a simple dip along a center 64mm stretch to enhance airflow, according to the manufacturer.

For this review I will be looking at another product from our friends over at Nexus. The product under the spot light today is a new CPU cooler in the shape of the VCT-9000. As i have looked at a few Nexus cooling products before I have fairly high expectations, and I am pretty sure I won’t be disappointed.

The Coolermaster Vortex Plus heatsink stands 83mm tall, in total. A 25mm thick, 92mm PWM fan exhausts downward so waste air impinges on a lower extruded aluminum heatsink that sits atop the processor. It's both a good use of space for additional cooling surface area and an admission by heatsink designers that the aluminum fins above aren't getting the whole job done by themselves.

The Mini Kaze 50 mm from Scythe is a perfect choice for adding a bit of airflow in those hard to reach places, without impact the noise level. They can be used as extra chipset fans, replacement for external HDD case fans, or a replacement fans for small ITX cases.

While the HDT SD964W cooler from Xigmatek isn't the best performing tower cooler I've seen, it does have a niche that many enthusiasts may want to explore. It didn't perform well on the overclocked Q6600 in the test mule, but it should be more than adequate for dual and tri-core processors in the 65W range with moderate voltage increases.
