Akasa's Revo heatsink is known as a Loop Thermosyphon Cooler; it functions along the same lines as a heatpipe but relies on gravity instead of capillary forces to return its 'working fluid' back to the hot side. The working fluid is what conducts heat absorbed by the heatsink, from the processor to the heat exchanger, where forced air passing over cooling fins removes it to the surrounding environment. Unlike heatpipes which typically use water under a slight vacuum for working fluid, the Revo heatsink is slightly pressurized with a fluorocarbon called R134a.
Spire's Thermax Eclipse II heatsink is essentially identical to the elusive 3Rsystem Iceage 120 Boss II heatsink Frostytech previously tested. If you've been holding out for the Iceage 120 Boss II you'll be pleased to know that Spire's Thermax Eclipse II heatsink is just as good a performance cooler - one of the Top 5 Best Heatsinks tested thus far. Both the Spire and 3Rsystem heatsinks are constructed around five 8mm diameter copper heatpipes, have exposed heatpipes at the base and a distinctive "X" pattern that positions heatpipes in the path of higher velocity air.
Today we are going to take a look at one of Arctic’s fans, the F12 Pro PWM. This is a 120mm model which is designed to be ultra quiet. It has a number of interesting features including a unique two-part rubber damped enclosure and PWM fan speed control.

Having already taken a look at quite a few Alpenfohn products recently it has become quite apparent that they punch well above their weight in times of how much they deliver at their price point. Today we take a look at another Alpenfohn product, the Brocken, and we hope that in continue Alpenfohn’s trend of producing high performance CPU coolers at an excellent price point. The Brocken is a very industrial looking CPU cooler but is your typical 120mm fan high performance tower heatsink. This product is definitely closer to the Noctua NH-U12S as opposed to the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo as it packs a very thick heatsink and four 8mm not 6mm heat pipes.
This Alpenfohn CPU cooler is capable of taking on most modern CPU sockets/platforms although it does lack LGA 2011 support which is why Alpenfohn released the Brocken 2 to support that higher TDP platform.
It looks like a few things have changed over at Swiftech since the last time I visited their site and had the pleasure of testing, and still using to this day, the H20-320 kit they introduced back in November of last year. A couple of weeks ago I started getting correspondence of this new cooler in the works from Swiftech, and to my first surprise, it’s an air cooler. Now I’m not positive you all remember the MCX series of air coolers from a few years ago. While the idea was very different, and the thinking was outside of the box in its design, the cooler had limited success, and I don’t remember it being highly recommended as were the other leaders in that day of air cooling.
