Zalman's CNPS10X Extreme fulfills both roles pretty well care of a cleverly integrated PWM fan speed controller in the top part of the fan shroud. Do nothing and the CNPS10X Extreme's 120mm fan will fall under BIOS control, automatically scaling fan speed from 1000RPM to 2150RPM as needed. Set the fan speed controller and the heatsink operates in one of three fan-duty modes, or responds to the turn of a dial to the exact fan velocity you want.
The Zalman CNPS10X Extreme cpu cooler is the best built processor cooler I have had on my test bench to date. With top notch materials, build quality, feature set coupled with excellent performance, this great looking cooler should be on any buyer's short list. There really isn't more you could add onto a processor cooler without ruining the overall package.

The Zalman CNPS10X Quiet cpu cooler can be summed up to be a quiet winner. Although the installation was a little daunting, the performance after the fact made this cooler worth the effort and frustration. It beat everything with ease and could even be used for mild overclocking if temperatures are monitored and the speeds adjusted for the fan's capacity.
