RunCore makes several SSD products, from PCIe SSDs made for a specific netbook model, to desktop / notebook 2.5” form factor drives like the new Pro V. At the time of writing the Pro V wasn’t listed on RunCore’s website, but the Kylin II enterprise was listed on a RunCore enterprise site that I found off the beaten path.

Last year we reviewed the Thecus N4200 just days after its release. The N4200 is still to this day the only consumer NAS that offers dual status display screens, but more importantly, the only consumer NAS to include a battery backup system. When Thecus first marketed their N4200 a lot of emphasis was placed on the new dual display feature, but we felt that the battery backup feature was the real standout feature.

The HighPoint RocketStor 5322 6Gb/s eSATA Storage Dock has 2 6Gb/s ports, fits 2.5" or 3.5" drives, is HotSwap and HotPlug compatibility, PC & MAC supported. This dock is about performance and RAID 0 is also possible with a supported controller. It's an outstanding product!

Crucial lists the capabilities of V4 256GB SATA II SSD as being able to reach read speeds of up to 230MB/s and writes up to 190MB/s. In two out of three synthetic benchmarks, we saw these specifications exceeded with the max reads hitting a hair under 280MB/s and writes just under 240MB/s. Obviously, this is best case performance scenarios but it gives a clear indication of what the drives are capable of although the lesser capacity versions will return lower results. Being a value oriented drive, we feel like the performance is very solid...

QNAP's new "L" designation means great performance with a lower price point. If you're shopping for a large capacity NAS, but don't have a large budget, read our review of the QNAP TS-669L 6-Bay NAS.

While little pen/flash drives have increased in capacity in recent years, those that want a bit more storage space are still forced with going with portable hard drives, or SSDs. However, if you don't want to utilise a drive of your own, or sort out hard drive cages or covers, the pre-built option is also available. Today we look at such a device from Kingston, the HyperX 64GB Max 3.0 device that utilises USB 3 technology to give it incredibly quick transfer rates with a reasonable capacity behind it too.

USB flash drive is a very common device nowadays but there are some unique or great models in the market which are valuebale for us to take a deep look on them. OCZ is a well known brand for computer memory, power supply as well as USB flash drive. Today let us take a look on OCZ Rally2 performance USB flash drive besides the OCZ ATC (Extreme Performance) and Diesel (Portable) series.

For a number of years, OCZ have been producing drives that have set not only technological milestones but also performance milestones as well. Such milestones have included being the first to debut the SandForce controller, the first 1TB SSD and in 2011 they unveiled the highest capacity SAS SSD at close to 1TB. Performance wise, OCZs have been at the forefront of what is possible and the Vertex 4 that we looked at earlier in the year was the latest to tickle our SSD tastebuds and show us why OCZ are one of the best in their class.
The acquisition of Indilinx last year was a huge step forward in the companies history and this has meant that overall manufacturing costs have come down thus giving the end user a top level drive but at an even more affordable price. Since this acquisition, the Barefoot 3 controller is the first ground up design that they have created, tailored entirely to their specifications and this means that they can take performance to the next level, so now couldn't be a better time to bring out a new line of drives.
OCZ have made this line of drives with not performance or price first in line, but quality, reliability and stability. This is not to say that they're going to be B grade in relation to the Vertex drives. Performance is still high on the agenda and following the hype that the Vector has been getting, its time to see of OCZ can set another milestone and release a new yardstick to the SSD market.
