The old saying is that good things come in small packages, and that's definitely the case with the Thecus N0204 Mini NAS. It's no larger than a portable hard drive but provides a lot more than just storage. I don't know of any other NAS box that is this portable and manages to pack an FTP server, print server, media server, and so many other features into a tiny unit that can fit in your jacket pocket.

The Thecus M3800 NAS device was designed to be your total media storage and playback solution. Featuring HDMI, component, and AV out, the M3800 can play digital content directly through your existing home theater system. The M3800 supports multiple file formats including WMV9 and VC-1, and even supports 1080P for playback on today's high-definition displays.

As someone who has purchased many different storage devices (HDD, SSD, flash drive, etc.), I have experienced first hand the confusion that can come from all the numbers we are bombarded with. Manufacturers throw numbers at us to back up their lofty claims of ever increasing performance. But what do all of these things mean? Some people may give up and just get the one that has the largest numbers plastered on the box. Hopefully after reading this article, that will not be you.

The picture isn't crystal clear just yet, but at CES we cleared part of the cloud surrounding companies 2011 solid state drive products. At the very least we will see seven new SSD controllers enter the market in 2011. Of those, four are directed at the consumer market and three are enterprise designs. Only time will tell which consumer controllers get converted to enterprise models and vice versa. Of the seven overall, we saw working samples of three and they were all twice as fast as the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB drive.

The Mega-NAS project begins. I did some research on brand name high-capacity storage solutions. It will cost $30 000 - $50 000 for a network storage solution that meets my requirements. That is well beyond my budget. It is up to me to design and build a system capable of meeting my high capacity and processing power requirements.

The SSD Review has compiled a detailed analysis of the newly released Intel 710 SATA III 200GB SSD, an SSD priced at an unexpected $1299. Contrary to original predictions, the 710 is not intended as a consumer product and we believe that it will meet with a great deal of success in the enterprise sector. Follow along as we try to explain why this SSD is such a special addition to the SSD arena.

Intel took the SSD realm by storm this week with the long awaited release of their first 510 series SATA 3 SSD. Although consumers were anxious for the news, reviewers had to remain tight lipped having received their pre-release sample a day or so prior and being sworn to silence until Intels release date of 29 Feb 11. We can say first hand that this was a very difficult task as Intel floored reviewers on their disassembly of the SSD itself. Situated front and center was a Marvell 9174 SATA 3 controller soldered to the SSD circuit board (PCB) rather than the Intel controller that everyone had expected.

It offers the punch of the X-25m in 1/8th of the size and Intel is gambling that this is going to add a whole new dimension to notebook configurations. First up to bat with the 310 will be new Lenovo Thinkpads destined for market in 2011 but don't think other oems aren't far behind.
