Hard drive docks have become as common as external enclosures and it seems everyone is making them. The docks out there all seem the same basic design, but the one I have today is very much different. For review today I have the Hornettek Slipper U3 HDD docking station. The name is interesting but fitting as you just literally slip your hard drive into the dock. The Slipper can use either 2.5” or 3.5” drives and is USB 3.0 capable for maximum transfer speeds. "

You know what I don't like about hot weather? Well, it has got to be the heat. (No kidding, right?) And with all the heat, sometimes it is just a bit hard to get my brain working correctly, and a working brain is very important if I want to write a good review introduction. The good thing is, by talking about the negative effects of heat alone, it already used up a few lines of the standard article opening length, and this really saved me some thinking in writing about stuff I really should have. Anyways, after wasting a good half a minute of your life you will never get back, what I want to talk about this afternoon is back to the topic of how awesome it is to own the ultimate sleeper laptop. This was first discussed in my G.SKILL F3-8500CL7D-8GBSQ 2x4GB review back in the nice and cool December of 2009. Fast forward a year and a half, what I have here on the table is something that looks practically identical to what I had in the past, at least to the average consumer. To be specific, I am talking about no other than my new Lenovo ThinkPad T420 laptop. Sure, it may look like something from the 1990s, but with a Sandy Bridge processor, dedicated NVIDIA graphics with Optimus, 8GB of Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600 RAM, and an OCZ Agility 3 240GB solid state drive, who is laughing now? The OCZ Agility 3 240GB is all about impressive speed, low power consumption, no moving parts, and decent storage space at a price that is still relatively affordable. Move aside, laptops that looks faster than what it actually is with 30 minute battery life: This is the real deal. Is the OCZ Agility 3 240GB the SSD to get for both hardcore mobile enthusiasts and performance desktop users? We got all the perspectives with benchmarks that are objective in our review today.

There are lots of advantages to external hard-drives, but not quite as many as a purely portable drive. First and foremost it allows you to safeguard your data, those precious documents, or that music library that has taken you years to collect. Secondly it allows you to access data where ever you are, whether it is at home, school, university, sat on a train or whatever else takes your fancy that particular day. While USB memory sticks offer the perfectly compact solution for moving around data, they are rather expensive for the capacities available, especially when compared to a standard mechanical hard drive.

While many people have yet to upgrade to a regular Solid State Storage drive, there are professional users who demand even more performance. For this high end audience, OCZ have specially crafted the RevoDrive 3 x2, which is said to be the fastest consumer drive by a considerable margin.

Intel was quick to fulfill the needs of their customer base and set their sights on an on-board solution that allows system builders to bring the performance gains of solid state technology to mainstream customers. The end product was the Z68 chipset. Z68 includes Intel's Smart Response Technology, also known as on-board SSD caching and is part of Intel's Rapid Response Technology that controls RAID functions on Intel chipsets.

The new Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0 Flash Drive comes with a stylish exterior which works like a pen for revealing the connector. Our review today is going to examine the Memoright FTM Plus 6Gbps 240GB SSD; a ‘SandForce Driven’ SSD capable of read/write performance in excess of 500MB/s. Memoright focuses primarily on enterprise sales, however, they were one of the first to release a consumer SSD back in 2007. Submission of their MR25.1 128GB SLC SSD for review was our first introduction and we were floored at its MSRP, at that time, of $3500. Solid state drives have come down just a bit since then.
