VisionTek is an American-based company that traditionally has been known for graphic cards, and started to get their feet wet in memory and flash storage back in 2011. This summer VisionTek released the Go Drive consumer SSD lineup, and here at Technology X we get the opportunity to test out the 240GB VisionTek Go Drive.

Today we are looking at two new Solid State Drives from Visiontek, a company primarily known as one of AMD’s partners in America. Both GoDrive and Racer Series are powered by the Sandforce 2281 controller, however the Racer Series features high specification 24nm Toshiba Toggle MLC NAND flash for strong incompressible data performance.

VisionTek is an all-inclusive company that manufacturers several different PC components to include graphics cards, memory, power supplies, productivity cards, wireless and USB 3 adapters, as well as…you got it…SSDs. Surprisingly, their representation in SSD form factors includes PCIe form factors, in addition to common 2.5″ notebook and mSATA SSDs; this placing them amongst the very few that market PCIe SSDs at the moment. WE are happy to report that, not only do we have the notebook and mSATA SSD in hand, but the VisionTek Data Fusion PCIe SSD is on its way as well.

Few companies are as established as VisionTek, but can a great company name built on good support, quality and product availability make up for an SSD with an inflated cost?

HDD is getting cheaper nowadays compared with old day and most of the people will get one as an external storage for file sharing, back up or etc. One of the weaknesses of external storage is the slow read/write speed and hence we are going to introduce you a great device from Vizo; Ares II which is a dual 2.5" internal SATA HDD enclosure for desktop.

Recently, it has become common for many people to have an external hard drive enclosure, these generally speaking have been purchased with the HDD already installed for a greater price than an enclosure and a HDD. This means that there is money to be saved by buying the components separately and fitting them yourself. With that in mind I introduce the Vizo Saturno.

Walton Chaintech are now selling a product both unique and interesting, that is thought to replace the more expensive 2.5inch SSDs on the market. The device looks like a SSD, but inside it hides two removable CompactFlash cards, that can function in both RAID1 and NRAID modes, depending on what we need more: data reliability or more capacity.

Walton Chaintech, a company which manufactures lots of products like SSDs, Memory Modules, Memory Cards and Graphics Cards, does also produce Flash Drives. The AstroDrive 266X I have received for review is the smallest in the series, maroon colored. The flash drive has very good performances right out of the box, but Walton Chaintech also included a special utility on the drive to boost the performance even more.

I don’t know about you, but when I build a new PC I basically plan for an SSD for my operating system and then a second drive or more for my Steam and other files. This has been fairly consistent in my builds from the “Fridge” with its double SSD’s and double spinning drives all the way to the most recent “lunchbox 3” with its SSD and hard drive. I even do the same thing on my gaming laptop. Sadly, there are a lot of people who just can’t do this with their laptops do to only having one drive space. Western Digital surprised us late last week with a game changing drive that has that situation in mind without going with a hybrid setup. That drive is their new WD Black 2 Dual Drive, a single drive that houses a 120GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive.
