Kingston has just announced a new SSD drive, while that in itself isn’t that exciting as SSDs have been around for a while, the purpose of this particular drive though is different than others. The Kingston SSDNow V Series 40gb SSD is meant to be a boot drive only with the user putting their files, folders etc on a standard hard drive. The idea behind this is to speed up boot, shut down and the operating system overall, and I think everyone can appreciate that. What I got for review is the entire bundle, which is a kit that includes the SSD drive, rails for installation, cables and software to make the transition easier for the user. So continue on to see how it compares to other SSDs and standard hard drives…

How does one explain a card like this? I know - above top of the line! Or Greater than. . .? I say this because SanDisk's new Compact Flash(CF) card line, Extreme Pro, with it's 16, 32, and 64 GB options, has more speed than we have need... for... sorry about the rhyme. I suppose I mean to say more speed than you could ever need, but of course that is not really true. The SanDisk Extreme Pro's specs out perform most professional cameras including the Canon 5D Mark II. We'll check out if all this speed is worth it, after the break.

Until SSDs can safely prove that they're a reliable long-term media for Enterprise storage, the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface owns the market share for server storage. Until Seagate launches their Solid State Drive counterpart, the 600GB Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 SAS Hard Drive ST3600057SS delivers safe and affordable high-capacity storage to data servers and Enterprise environments. The 4Gb/s FC or 6-Gb/s SAS 2.0 interface allows the perpendicular storage technology to deliver 15,000 RPM data bandwidth for an industry-leading 1.6-million-hour MTBF. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 SAS hard drive against a wide variety of storage solutions.

Already supercharged your Seagate 1.5 Tb drive and looking to find out what the next step is? The answer is simple: RAID. Join Artiom as he reveals the benchmarks behind the Modified ST31500341AS as well as answering a lot of the questions we were asked after the first editorial.

So where do I stand when it comes to evaluating the QNAP TS-219P as an overall unit? The benchmark results are certainly respectable. You can count on performance in the range of 20 to 40MB/s depending on file size and transfer rate. The difference between RAID 0 and RAID 1 is large enough that you'll notice a small increase in speed but at the same time small enough that you won't be waiting forever while data is duplicated to both drives.

OCZ is a well known brand for most of the computer peripherals such as computer memory, power supply, SSD, flash drive and so on. Today we are not going to talk about OCZ primary product; memory but their SSD. Let us have a quick look on OCZ's mainstream SSD product; 30GB Agility.

The old saying is that good things come in small packages, and that's definitely the case with the Thecus N0204 Mini NAS. It's no larger than a portable hard drive but provides a lot more than just storage. I don't know of any other NAS box that is this portable and manages to pack an FTP server, print server, media server, and so many other features into a tiny unit that can fit in your jacket pocket.

Das N0204 von NAS Spezialist Thecus ist wohl derzeit das kleinste vollwertige NAS System der Welt. Was der Winzling alles kann, und wo seine Stärken liegen, wir haben es ausprobiert.

Today we are looking at the Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA-II hard disk drive. This particlar drive comes with a 5 year warranty, is quiet whilst not ruling out being very quick too. Lots of hard drives on the market are quicker, but you compensate by having a noisy drive. This drive has all the features you would want, from a trusted manufacturer.
