We have been reviewing ADATA products now for years and the SP900 has hit the UK market at £74,99 inc vat. The Premier Pro SP900 is the mainstream drive from ADATA focusing on creating a balance between price and performance.

The practice of using unbranded peripherals in computers is a common one, and even more so in the case of Apple, who takes it a step further by demanding that components such as the SSDs are proprietary through small the reassignment of circuitry within the SSD. Not only can the SSD in Apple’s new Mac products not be upgraded with third-party SSDs, but also, they can’t even be switched off with SSDs of previous Apple releases. Simply, the high-capacity SSD of your 2012 Apple MBA will not work in your 2013 MBA.

While not the newest drive on the block, Mushkin's Chronos Deluxe 240GB offers legendary LSI SandForce performance, at a price that is hard to beat.

Bereits die Ur-Vector glänzte mit guten Leistungswerten. Nun schickt OCZ mit der Vector 150 einen Nachfolger in das Rennen. Wir haben uns die SSD genau angesehen und machen den Test im PCGH-Labor.

Recently I’ve been taking a look at some of the newest flash drives on the market, including those from Lexar and whilst they may be either the fastest, best looking, or offer the best value for money, there is one area where they all fail. This is security. We hear about security all the time, and in the home or work place, security is key, after all we don’t want to let our data get out into the wrong hands. Typically this generally entails users locking their computers with a password and in the case of networks, securing the wireless with an encryption key for example. We also lock our buildings, filing cabinets, doors and vehicles, but for the most part, there is one everyday item that we tend to forget about; the humble USB flash drive.

In late October, Western Digital released a new version of its Caviar Black Edition hard disks. WD calls the new ones 'Caviar Black' like the original series, but promises better performance compared to the first version. We tested the 4TB model.

Today we take a look at Samsungs first consumer mSATA SSD range which includes the first 1TB mSATA model to hit the market. Based on the 840 Evo range of desktop drives this mSATA version looks to offer the same features and capacity in the mobile form factor.

Super Talent has once again been busy behind the scenes and their newest entries into the SSD market include a new M.2 NGFF design called the DX1. Anything but ordinary, the STT DX1 is available as a SATA M.2 SSD (known as the STT NGFF DX1), or that of a PCIe X1 interface where a SATA 3 SSD is routed through a PCIe to SATA bridge and travels via a single PCIe lane (STT PCIe DX1). A bit confusing at first, the additional benefit of the PCIe DX1 is that it is a fully bootable SSD and only the second bootable M.2 PCIe SSD we have seen to date. Perhaps this is the start of a trend.

Samsung released a new mSATA SSD product based on the award winning, mainstream EVO architecture. Today we check out the massive 1TB drive model.
