"SSDs are quite pointless," my friend said before the beginning of our Engineering Economics lecture last semester. "They don't do anything besides improving your boot time. Programs don't load that much faster compared to a 7200RPM hard drive." Of course, as with most people who actually own an SSD, this is a statement you cannot resist to argue with. "That's like saying a Ferrari is not much better than a Honda Civic. Sure, you can run better 0-60 times, but other than that, you'll be driving close to the speed limit most of the time anyway." So while I am not here today to make an argument as to why it is so awesome to own an SSD, I am here to make an argument as to why it is so awesome to own -- keep reading -- two SSDs. Kingston's first SandForce SF-2281 based Kingston HyperX SSD is nothing short of impressive; combining the renowned controller with a set of high performance Intel NAND flash chips for some very impressive numbers across the board. But the story does not end here. So today, we will take a look at Kingston's SSDNow V+200 120GB SSD. Don't get confused with the SSDNow V200; the little '+' after the 'V' makes all the difference. This business oriented product, like the HyperX enthusiast drive, features a SF-2281 under the hood, along with a renewed focus on value. So how does it step up against the competition? Of course, we will have our usual battery of benchmarks in single disk configuration. But since the good people at Kingston sent over two of their 120GB drives for our review today, what's stopping us from some RAID 0 action?

2011 was the year that saw SandForce based Solid State Drives take off once and for all, but they seem to keep improving more and more leading into this year 2012. We recently took a look at the Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD which proves to be one of the best models on the SandForce market, we are hoping to see a similar performance from this new M3 range from Plextor we have here today...

Intended for business users, the Micron P400e offers solid performance coming and data reliability from its custom firmware driven Marvell 9174 controller, although the lack of encryption and weak 4k writes are definitely soft spots which may not be too much of an issue for some...

Let’s face it everyone needs a place to store their data. Whether it be a backup image of your Operating system or the terabytes of data that you hold dear. The big thing these days is “The Cloud” and with big enterprise companies pushing it mainstream, more and more people trust their precious data to these services

One of the biggest issues with SSD right now is the price. But Crucial has come up with a solution. With the Crucial Adrenaline, you can get the blazing fast speed of an SSD while maintaining the massive storage and cheap prices of a hard drive

Corsair are now offering their take on the solid state cache drive technology with the release of the Accelerator. With capacities of 30-60GB they aim to offer a solution for those even on a minimal budget. Today we put it head to head with the competition, Crucials Adrenaline, to see who comes out on top.

Last week we saw the Force GT 180GB with synchronous flash. This week we look at the Force 3 with asynchronous flash, but with the same SF-2282 controller.

It was only a matter of time before the idea of expandable storage was introduced into the world of PCIe SSDs and, although we have seen a few prototypes in the last year, none have quite made it to market just yet. Our analysis of the OWC Mercury Accelsior 480GB PCIe SSD not only opens the possibility of upgradeable capacity sizes, but also, it just so happens to be only the second consumer targeted PCIe SSD on the market right now and is both Mac and PC ‘plug and play’ compatible.
