Patriot are a brand that are getting more and more recognition lately, but still not as much as we think they should. They have started to focus more on Solid State Drives opposed to memory, and this is a good move, if you have the right products in your catalogue, and simply put, Patriot do.

If you can't beat them, join them." Some call that team stacking, others call it cowardly, but let me ask you a question: When has being the last one standing ever brought anyone victory? Indeed, in the business world, we just call this -- for a lack of better terms -- getting with the times. After all, being in business is just about making money, and it is important to make a product that sells well. In the past, Kingston has been stubbornly reluctant to slap on a SandForce controller in their SSDs, and by doing so, their drives never really made a significant impact in the enthusiast market. Well, this is all about to change. With the company's latest Kingston HyperX solid state drive now equipped with the renowned SF-2281 SATA 6Gb/s controller, Intel NAND flash chips, and an extremely sleek exterior design, does it live up to the HyperX brand's long legacy of cutting edge performance? To find out, we took in the moderately priced 120GB version in the upgrade kit form (Which includes an Acronis cloning program and an external USB enclosure for a price premium of $5-10 at press time), and slapped it through our usual battery of benchmarks. Let's waste no time.

OCZ forges their own path again with their homebrew Indilinx Everest controller featured in their new line of Octane drives. With up to 1TB of storage and read write specifications of up to 560MB/s and 400MB/s, will OCZ shake up the market and take the title of top SSD? Read on to see how this SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive does on the benchmarks!

If you haven't heard of G-Technology just yet, you are not alone. The company started out as its own entity, but was later scooped up by Hitachi Global Storage Technology (GST). Now G-Tech serves at Hitachi's MAC storage department making products designed for use with MAC computers with an emphasis put on style as well as performance. Just very recently we looked at the G-DRIVE Mobile, a dual interface drive that uses USB 2.0 and FireWire 800.

The ST4 USB 3.0 Flash Drive product from Super Talent comes with an aluminum body and succeeds to deliver excellent read speeds; on the drive we will also find the Fnet TurboFlash USB application, which is meant to boost the transfer speeds even more.

RunCore is producing two mSATA SSDs these days, one a SATA II model and the one we are looking at today, a SATA III unit. The RunCore RCP-V-T50 uses a SandForce SF-2281 controller and pairs it with 25nm IMFT MLC flash. At this time there are very few SATA III mSATA ports in production machines, but that will change soon. Intel has already told us that in 2012 at least 60 new ultrabook designs will come to market. Of that sixty, several will feature an mSATA interface and most will support SATA III speeds.
Each game that came out featured new graphical abilities, such as colored lighting, shadowing systems, bigger levels, A.I. - the list is virtually endless. Tablets and smartphones have gotten to the point where they are comparable to basic PCs now, with quad-core tablets hitting shelves just before Christmas. Where does this leave the desktop PC gaming market?

Offering very good data transfer speeds, one of the most complete bundles I’ve ever seen and an exceptional price/capacity ratio the brand new V+200 120GB is a worthy addition to the SSDNow business line of solid state drives by Kingston.
