Das N0204 von NAS Spezialist Thecus ist wohl derzeit das kleinste vollwertige NAS System der Welt. Was der Winzling alles kann, und wo seine Stärken liegen, wir haben es ausprobiert.
Storage
Thecus brings a lot to the table with the N0503 Combo NAS. You have the choice of using up to five 2.5” drives or up to three 3.5” drives for storage, and the new, more polished AJAX-based web interface is a step in the right direction. All the familiar features are here too including the media server, print server, web server, and a myriad of other functions that are all customizable for your particular needs.
Storage
Not to go on and on about the web interface- as much as I dislike it, I digress. The N0503 is packed with features, and it is flexible. The N0503 is fast- there is no doubt about that and even in RAID 5 it manages to sustain some excellent numbers. For a three drive NAS, or five 2.5″ drive NAS the N0503 happens to fall into the more expensive side of things, but alas is the nature of performance hardware.

It's been a while since any of Thecus products have graced our site, but today I've got one of their newest ones the N2200. It's a two bay NAS box that can use both 2.5” and 3.5” hard drives. The designed is different than other Thecus products I've reviewed before, it's aesthetically pleasing, it's got small size and it's easy to use. The N2200 can be plenty of things for you like a webserver, ftp server, iTunes server, standard media server and several more things as well. It's a feature rich product that not only looks great but performs fairly well. So read on to learn more and see how it compares to my Seagate BlackArmor NAS220 box...

One of my favorite products are NAS boxes, I’m not sure exactly why. I think it’s the fact that they’re just so useful. NAS boxes are much better than just an external hard drive ever could be that’s for sure. Thecus is a company that’s well known for their NAS systems, they make some of the best on the market. They’ve recently introduced a new line of NAS servers called XXX, the X’s stand for Xtreme Power, Xtreme Function and Xtreme Value. Today for review I’ve got the latest NAS server from Thecus called the N2200XXX, so let’s just get into it as we’ve got a lot to cover.

In our home, we have 6 PC’s, 4 laptops, an iMac and a MBA. Perhaps the most frustrating thing over time is the constant requests for so-and so to provide so-and-so something from their PC. Installing a separate drive, via network attached storage, has always been an option, but let’s face it; it just isn’t that easy. Imagine if we could, not only create a network that enables easy file sharing by all, but also centralize media so we can watch movies from attached TVs through a central storage location, and also, access your computer’s files worldwide from this new home NAS; the Thecus N2310 makes this all possible.

The Thecus N2520 is certainly interesting due to the new features, but right now we have to speak more of interesting potential than a great final product. That's because many things aren't available or active yet. The HDMI isn't functional yet and not everything is entirely finalized in the new firmware.
