The Desktop HDD.15 4TB is Seagate's official 4TB disk for use in desktop PCs. Unlike the 7200.14 disks, it runs at 5900 rpm, which means lower performance. The SandForce SF-2281 controller has been powering many of the solid state drives we have reviewed in the past year or so. When these drives were first released 28% of the storage capacity was used for over-provisioning. So if you had a 128GB drive you would actually get 100GB of available space. Later this 28% was brought down to 7%, now SandForce has released a 0 provision that allows for 0% of the capacity to be used for background activities.
