Normally when a company releases a 512GB USB 3.0 drive we would assume that it was a 2.5" form factor model, often using a mechanical drive but occasionally containing a SSD. Kingston havent taken that route though and instead have managed to fit half a gigabyte of storage into a much more compact package. So compact in fact that they include an attachment so that it can be carried about with us along with our keys.

Today I am going to be looking at a product from a manufacturer that whilst they are a household name is less well known for their involvement in the computer hardware industry. The manufacturer is Toshiba and the product is one of their Store Steel external hard drives, this one in particular is 320GB.

Super Talent is one of the leading memory and storage device companies in the global market today and has released their latest USB Flash Drive called the Express Drive USB 3.0. The Express Drive is just one of the USB 3.0 drives that Super Talent has just recently released to the market.

USB 3.0 has become the standard transfer interface for most consumers, so now that it is mainstream, more and more devices are hitting retail shelves with transfer speeds that can utilize the throughput of the interface.

The OCZ Vertex Limited Edition (LE) was the first generation SandForce SSD to hit the market. At the time of release the LE was plagued with one issue after another. Many drives were shipped to customers with the same on drive serial number which caused issues for RAID arrays. Drives were dropping dead left and right according to forum posts all over the place, too. Even calling the LE an official SandForce was a bit of a stretch since the drives shipped with a OCZ logo rather than the SF-1222 that in the last three months we have become accustomed to seeing on consumer SandForce drives. OCZ had a head start on their competition but some users walked away from the early adapter experience feeling a disappointed.

Kingston answered this need a few years ago when they introduced the WiDrive. While this was a fantastic device, it too suffered from limited storage. Kingston listened to feedback and developed the new MobileLite Wireless which builds on the strengths of the WiDrive but takes it one step further by providing a USB port and SD card slot for removable memory.

It was just a few days ago that the internet was abuzz with news of Super Talents new offering of its UltraDrive MX 480GB SSD which promised a new era in consumer SSD capacities. The idea of 480GB of SSD property on a single SSD immediately became the driving force to our contacting Super Talent and suggesting a review of this monster drive. This idea was sidestepped rather quickly with information that there were only 12 prototypes available, each of which was making its rounds through expected hierarchy within the company. We definitely didn’t expect a return telephone call from Peter Carcione, Super Talents Director of Marketing, suggesting that we may be able to have a quick ‘hands on’ with the monster if we considered also taking a look at one of Super Talents smallest and cheapest offerings as well, the Super Talent 16GB VSSD. How could we resist? This review will be our first of two in upcoming days and will focus on the Super Talent UltraDrive 480GB SSD but stay tuned because the VSSD Review is not far behind.

Today we start on an adventure. Despite reviewer's claims, Samsung has never stated the endurance life of its new TLC NAND flash used in the new 840 SSD. We're going to find out just how many program erase cycles the flash can take... in time.

QNAP has introduced a new NAS series with the latest QTS 4.0 Operating System. The unit comes with a single-core Marvell CPU at 2.0GHz, 1GB of RAM and features a lot of connectivity options. On the front it looks pretty much the same as the TS-469L, but now we also have an active LCD screen with two buttons for navigation, but the IR sensor is missing since the unit does not come with a HDMI output.
