In recent months we have seen a flood of Solid State Drives released, powered by the new class leading 2281 Sandforce controller. Today we are analysing the latest drive from Patriot – the Wildfire 120GB. This specific drive is using 32nm Toshiba MLC NAND, the same memory used in the class leading MAX IOPS Vertex 3, which we reviewed earlier this year.

It's been awhile since we looked at a thumb drive, but it's time to get back into the thick of things. Over the coming days we'll see three of the latest and greatest USB 3.0 thumb drives that are capable of holding large amounts of data and transferring that data at high speeds. The last drive we looked at was the Mach Xtreme MX-FX; today we are looking at Mach Xtreme's newest offering, the MX-GX.

Not many Solid State Drive manufacturers offer a five-year full-replacement product warranty, but PNY does. Built in the USA, the PNY XLR8 PRO SSD series combines a second-generation LSI/SandForce SF-2281 SATA 6Gb/s controller with fast IMFT-branded NAND flash components to produce up to 85,000 IOPS. PNY has tweaked the XLR8 PRO SSD-series to deliver transfer speeds up to 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests these claims, and compares XLR8 PRO SSD performance to competing storage solid-state solutions to find out which SSD is best.

The tools in my toolbox are just as important as the IT skills I have learned over the years. After all, what good is the knowledge to accomplish something without the means to do so? That is why my arsenal of tools in my office is as important to me and my customers as is paint and a canvas to a painter. When companies like StarTech start offering tools that can accomplish more than one task and do them all well, it not only saves me time, it reduces the amount of "crap" I have all over the place. StarTech has already impressed me with their S354UFER, let's see if they can keep me tuned in with their SATDOCK22RE.

Mimicry is the highest form of flattery and when done to reduce cost and make a product similar more available to the masses, there isn't anything wrong with it. To call the OCZ Technology RevoDrive a true PCIe drive like the io-Drive is a bit of a stretch. The RevoDrive takes the PCIe signal and routes it through a Silicon Image RAID controller. From the RAID controller the data is passed through to two onboard PCB SSDs. This should reduce latency from the RAID controller to the drives since it eliminates the SATA cables. In reality there really isn't much difference between buying two 60GB Vertex 2 60GB drives with a RAID controller and the RevoDrive when it comes to performance, but OCZ didn't really design the RevoDrive to flatter the Fusion-io or accomplish performance outside of the realm of the above scenario.

The original A-DATA S599 was the second SandForce SSD we tested, but that was all the way back in March. Quite a lot has changed since then with all of the SandForce partners; the products are now more refined and the competition of a saturated market has led to more value added accessories being included.

As most PC enthusiasts know, the right choice of storage media - particularly for the operating system - can make or break the entire build. Earlier this year we reviewed the Vector and Vertex 3.20, two of OCZ's latest SSD offerings and judging by the Kingston data sheet their HyperX 3K looks to bring an equal challenge to the table. Touting 555MB/s sequential reads and 510MB/s writes, the HyperX 3K 240GB SSD offers impressive performance courtesy of the Sandforce 2 controller... all with a three year warranty.

The Voyager GS is a very speedy USB 3.0 Flash Drive from Corsair which comes in three different capacity flavors: 64GB, 128GB and 256GB and sports a sleek brushed aluminum chassis for extra durability.

The Most common form factor for SSD (Solid State Drive) in the market is the 2.5" size but SSD does come with other form factors as well such as 3.5", 1.8", PCIe, mini PCIe, USB and etc. Today we have a chance to have a quick review on Kingston SSDNow V+ 180; a 1.8" SSD which is suitable for compact or small size performance laptop.
