It has been a really long time since we have reviewed a product from Mushkin. Mushkin has mainly been known for memory products, but like most memory companies have moved into the storage realm with solid state drives. The big difference between this drive and the normal Chronos is that it uses premium Toshiba toggle mode NAND memory and the Chronos uses asynchronous NAND memory. In this review PCSTATS is checking out Lexar's stylish 64GB JumpDrive Triton - a nice looking retractable thumb drive housed in a weighty metal alloy case. Lexar's USB 3.0 thumb drive is rated for speeds of 155MB/s read and 150MB/s write -- that's pretty quick. For a clearer picture of its capabilities PCSTATS will need to benchmark the Lexar JumpDrive Triton against comparable USB 3.0 drives of similar capacities.
Kingston, like other memory manufacturers, wanted to get into the solid state storage game a few years back. Due to their longstanding relationship with Intel, Kingston was able to get their hands on Intel’s special stash of 25nm NAND rated at 5K PE cycles for the first HyperX. That drive, and the more value conscious 3K model which followed, went on to become incredibly popular with enthusiasts.
