Founded in 2001, the Taiwanese company ADATA Technology Corporation specializes in memory-based products, selling everything from USB keys to flash memory cards to DRAM memory for desktop and server computers. A few years ago they branched out into SSDs, and have been competing aggressively on price/performance as SSD prices continue to fall. Today Benchmark Reviews has the opportunity to review their ADATA Premier SP610 256GB SSD.

USB 3.0 has been growing in popularity over recent months, and we have seen many manufacturers, such as Kingston and Corsair releasing a steady stream of high performance drives. Today if you buy a computer you can be assured that there will be at least one USB 3.0 port. If you are already using an older USB 2.0 flash drive is it worth upgrading to a new model?

You may remember this chart of the SF-2200 Series Client Launch article from about a year. Listed on the far left is the SF-1222, the reigning champion of SATA II, first released in 2010. Just to the right is the challenger, SF-2141. The new SandForce controller is essentially a four channel 2281 with a 64GB capacity limit. On paper the 1222 and 2141 have nearly identical performance other than the IOPS. The newer 2141 doubles sustained read 4K IOPS (from 30K to 60K) and has a 6x increase in burst write 4K IOPS. The new 2141 does still have that 4 channel limit and we'll explore what that means today while testing the new ADATA S396 30GB SSD.

Today we are looking at a new solid state drive from ADATA – the S510 120GB. This drive is being marketed as their ‘budget friendly’ offering, with a UK retail price of only £119.99 inc vat, available on pre-order from Overclockers UK. It is based around the excellent Sandforce SF 2281 series controller with rated speeds of up to 550 MB/s read and 510 MB/s write. Should this be making your shortlist for a new drive?

The SSD Review has just finished evaluating the Adata S510 SATA 3 120GB SSD. Jump into the review and determine for yourself if this is just another of the many 'SandForce Driven' SSDs available today or one in which there may be just a bit extra. It has received our recommendation and we hope you enjoy the report!

It was just about a month ago that AData announced their upcoming release of a new 6Gbps SSD which would join the masses of 'SandForce Driven' SSDs and, not surprisingly, a sample was in the mail on our return from Computex. Today we will be ripping apart an AData S511 120GB solid state drive and its only proper to welcome AData to our little corner of the internet as this just so happens to be our first AData SSD inclusion.

ADATA isn't new to the SATA III market. The company already released the S501; a Marvell controlled SATA III drive with good wear capabilities. The S501 was a stopgap product between ADATA's successful S599 SandForce SF-1200 drive and the new S511 featuring SandForce's latest flagship, the SF-2281.

Solid State Drives are selling well in 2011, with a growing percentage of enthusiast users adopting one as a fast, primary boot drive. A few weeks ago we reviewed the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB drive, and today we will compare it against the ADATA S511 240GB, a hot new model set to offer the same stunning levels of performance, but at a slightly lower price point.
