In reviewing the Samsung SSD SM825 Data Center Edition 400GB eMLC solid state drive, we understand that we have wandered off the beaten path of normal consumer reviews but there are some things in this SSD that will just grab your attention. Although it’s interesting to see that Samsung has chosen its own premium eMLC NAND flash memory in the SM825, we believe that it is the total write endurance that truly stands out in this enterprise class SSD.

Today we’ll be doing a review on the ADATA DashDrive Elite SE720 128GB. The DashDrive Elite SE720 128GB is a USB 3.0, bus powered portable SSD that, unlike portable hard drives, should easily be capable of saturating USB 3.0′s 5Gbps bandwidth. The drive is unfortunately only offered in the 128GB variety and ADATA simply lists the drive as capable of...

Samsung SE-S084 is a slim external dual-layer DVD writer targeted to netbooks that don't come with an optical unit. Besides being very compact, it doesn't need an external power source, as the required power is pulled from two USB ports. Let's see if it is worthwhile buying this product.

The Samsung SM951 is one of the fastest SSD solutions out for those with a need for speed. It offers speeds that put most SSDs to shame and does it in a small M.2 2280 form factor. Last week we took a look at the 512GB variant that utilizes the AHCI host controller interface. To say the least, performance was very impressive. In that review we mentioned that the NMVe variant is starting to show up and that we would publish a review on one as soon as we could and well, today is the day. If you are a storage nut as I just happen to be, please get comfy and continue reading as we take a closer look at the NVMe variant of the Samsung SM951 M.2 PCIe SSD!

The most confusing thing to me is why Samsung, a company that makes one of the top SSDs on the market, would venture elsewhere to supply SSDs for their own Ultrabook, an Ultra that is arguably the best on the market in many respects. Our report today will be an overview of the new Samsung Series 9 15″ Ivy Bridge Ultrabook along with a more detailed analysis and very biased opinion with respect to where Samsung seems to be falling short in their quest for the perfect Ultra.

Over the past while, there seems to be an increased interest in our M.2 SSD testing, whether it be with respect to our thoughts on M.2 placement in the industry, ideas on how it best be introduced, or just plain “Where can I get a M.2 SSD?” concerns. Unfortunately, we cannot elaborate on purchase ‘just yet’ but we thought we might be able to display a bit of the hardware that we use behind the scenes for our own testing.
