Sapphire first introduced its graphics cards which implemented the Vapor-X coolers back in 2007 with its 3870 Atomic cards. The Vapor-X technology meant that graphics cards could be efficiently cooled and still remain silent using a liquid coolant which vaporised at the hot GPU’s IHS. Recently Sapphire has revitalised their Vapor-X video cards with the birth of the HD 4850 and 4870. Today we’ve kindly been given the 4850 to review, let’s see how it performs.

In this review we will be looking at MSI version of this new card called the Radeon HD 4890 OC. OC stands for overclocked meaning it comes from the factory with a slightly better clock speed from what ATI had intended. Typically OC cards don't overclock well but with a little tweaking you can usually squeeze out a few more frames or, simply leave the card alone and enjoy the nice performance boost.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 4770 introduces the 40nm RV740 GPU paired to 512MB of DDR5 video frame buffer memory, and a double-height cooler allows the 100277L model video card to operate at 750MHz. As of May 2009, the Sapphire HD4770 sells for as low as $99, which allows gamers to create a very affordable CrossFireX array using this mainstream graphics accelerator. Benchmark Reviews compares two Sapphire Radeon HD4770's assembled into a CrossFireX set against a large collection of high-performance GPU's for the tests in this article.

Often overlooked in the eternal arms race for the biggest, baddest, most powerful video card on the market; ATI has also been putting out scaled-down versions of their 4000-series GPUs that are intended for the budget conscious gamer. Today we'll be looking at the HD 4830, a smaller sibling to ATI's powerful HD4870. Find out whether this little brother is a mighty mite, or just falls short.

The card left a very good impression in general. Even if it was sometimes outperformed by competing products, we must admit that HD 4770 is faster than 9800 GT in most cases. This card defeats HD 4850 in those tests, where fillrate plays an important role (HD 4770 offers higher fillrates owing to a very high GPU clock rate).

XFX releases a new product based at ATI's HD4470 platform with great performance, price and overclocking margins. Overall a great product with sub $100 price and earns our Editor Choice award.

If you missed the launch of ATI's Radeon HD 4770 GPU you're in for a special treat today. PCSTATS is testing out Gigabyte's GV-R477D5-512H-B Radeon HD 4770 videocard alone, and in Crossfire mode so you'll know exactly what two of these mainstream cards can do for you! We already know one Radeon HD 4770 graphics card offers great performance for under a hundred bucks, the real question is what level of gaming performance will two 4770's teamed up under Crossfire deliver? Mainstream videocards often scale faster and farther than pricey flagship videocards, so it'll be interesting to see where two Radeon HD 4770's stand against videocards several times their price.

The breakneck pace of product development for graphics cards doesn't always generate bigger, faster, more powerful chips and cards. Sometimes a new product gets developed and introduced to the market that isn't a barn burner. Such is the case with this GTX260-based video card, the ASUS ENGTX260 Matrix. That doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile product, or isn't worth the attention of Benchmark Reviews. Instead, it's usually a more focused design that is aimed at a tighter target market. As if the high end PC graphics card market isn't tight enough, ASUS has carved out a niche in their product line called Matrix, and adopted it into their Republic of Gamers.
