I’ve tested a lot of GTX 750 Ti graphics cards so far and none of them have really impressed me at all. A lot of vendors seem to have assumed that because Maxwell is an impressive cool running GPU they can skimp out on the quality of the cooling solution. There are a lot of vendors doing this but it’s good to see there are also a lot who are not doing this. Gigabyte’s GTX 750 Ti WindForce 2X OC is a graphics card that is definitely not skimping out anything. Not only does it have a massive out of the box overclock but it also has a heat pipe based cooling solution and dual HDMI for 4K support. What’s even better is Gigabyte are going with their traditionally aggressive pricing which puts a lot of other graphics card vendors to shame.
The XFX Radeon R7 250 is an intermediate video card from the Radeon value/mid-range R7 series, with 1 GiB of GDDR5 memory. Let’s test it and see if it is a good card for casual gaming.

The Radeon R9 290 GPU came out in November 2013, making it almost 6 months old, and while it isn’t the top of the line model it still has some impressive specifications. Powered by a single 28nm AMD Hawaii GPU, it features 2560 Stream processors running at 947MHz, and 4GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000MHz. Sapphire has taken those specifications and boosted them a little with their Overclocked edition. The Stream processors are running at 1030MHz, and the 4GB GDDR5 memory has been clocked to 5600MHz. The Nvidia GTX 750 Ti is a great graphics card but the reference design that we reviewed was lacking a little something. I am hoping that today ASUS can bring some improvements to the table with the ASUS GTX 750 Ti OC graphics card we are looking at. With this graphics card ASUS are using their “Direct CU II style design”, however, this is not actually a Direct CU II product. This is because ASUS have not chosen to use any heat pipes at all – that’s right, not heat pipes. We’re hoping that this won’t affect cooling performance too much but we’ll have to wait until the test results before that can be determined. ASUS have added a pair of their fans which they claim provide twice the airflow and a three times reduction in noise over the reference design.
