The latest AMD Radeon HD 7790 GPUs feature a revised AMD PowerTune Technology implementation, with 8 states, more shader units compared to the versions and higher frequencies. The XFX Black Edition implementation comes with raised speeds from the factory and an enhanced Double Dissipation cooling system for a good efficiency, while maintaining low noise levels.
There's been a whole heap of 7790's coming through my door recently and it doesn't look like the flow is going to stop just yet. Never before have I had so many partners eager to get their products tested and reviewed for a particular launch, but as we know, Bonaire has stirred the entry level market right up and consequently every one wants a slice of the pie when it comes to sales. Bereits vor einigen Wochen präsentierte AMD unter dem Codenamen "Bonaire" die neue Radeon HD 7790 GPU. Aufgabe des neuerlichen Grafikchips ist es, die entstandene Leistungs-Lücke zwischen Radeon HD 7770 und Radeon HD 7850 zu schließen und gleichzeitig Marktanteile in diesem Preissegment von Nvidia abzugraben. Im Bereich von etwa 100-130 Euro war bis zur Vorstellung der HD 7790 die GeForce GTX 650 Ti beinahe konkurrenzlos – dies soll sich mit Bonaire jedoch ändern! Bonaire ist dabei nicht etwa eine abgespeckte Variante von Pitcairn (Basis für Radeon HD 7800-Familie) oder ein aufgebohrter Cape Verde (Basis für Radeon HD 7700-Familie), sondern eine tatsächlich neue 28 nm GPU, basierend auf AMDs GCN-Architektur. Dadurch möchte man vor allem bei der Preisgestaltung mehr Spielraum haben und entsprechend attraktive Partner-Karten ermöglichen. The Black Edition series from XFX has served us extremely well since the launch of the new HD 7000 series this year. We saw XFX come out strong with the HD 7970 version which was then followed up with the HD 7950 version.

Like the HD 6950, we hope today that the AMD Radeon HD 7950 comes in at that same strong price point and performance level that makes it such an attractive option for people who want some serious GPU power, but don't want to quite spend the money that's associated with buying the highest end single GPU offering.
