Let’s see the performance of the new Radeon HD 6870 from MSI, which follows the AMD reference design and competes with the GeForce GTX 465.

Sparkle Computer Corp is perhaps best known for their nVidia-based graphics cards. They have sent over one of their latest creations, a version of the popular GTS 250 graphics chipset. This is the same G92 series core that first appeared in the 8800GT and continued in use through the early 9600GSO, 9800GT, GTX and GTX+ cards, finally to end up as the GTS 250. Over its lifespan the G92 has gone through a die shrink from 65nm to 55nm, which helped to result in less power usage and lower temperatures. Sparkle has taken that concept to a whole new level with a low power, low profile version of the GTS 250 designed for use as a home theater PC component.

We proceed with a series of practical articles, in which we analyze sufficiency of various CPU+GPU combinations for games, trying to keep our test conditions as close to popular realia as possible. We hope that such articles will come in handy to readers willing to reasonably distribute their budget between a graphics card and a processor.

Another day, another graphics card release. It feels like I’ve been saying that a lot recently as AMD have gone a bit GPU-crazy with all their new RX 2XX products. Today we have another one of those releases from AMD and it is the R9 270. The R9 270 is the non-x variant of the R9 270X which we reviewed not that long ago. This means it is the spiritual successor to AMD’s HD 7850 from the previous generation series. What’s nice is that the R9 270 isn’t going to be a straight up rebrand of the HD 7850, it is actually physically different but we will get onto that in a moment… first I want to draw attention to the particular R9 270 we’re reviewing today. Sadly AMD couldn’t provide us with a reference R9 270 graphics card (which is always ideal for far comparison purposes), but we’ve still got a pretty sweet looking ASUS Direct CU II OC variant of the R9 270 instead. ASUS have fitted the R9 270 with their renowned Direct CU II cooling solution and given it the OC treatment which means it comes with a high factory overclock – 50MHz more than the reference design, as shown below in the GPU-Z screen shot. The memory frequency is kept at the stock level of 1.4GHz/5.6GHz actual/effective.

Today, we'll be looking at the ASUS ROG MARS 760 4GB Dual-GPU video card that is sold under part number MARS760-4GD5. The ASUS ROG MARS 760 is a single card that features two of NVIDIA GK104 'Kepler' GPU's, so it is basically dual GeForce GTX 760 card running in SLI. ASUS claims that their MARS 760 card can outperform the NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan and that this card is aimed at 2560x1440 gamers. This card isn't really going to work well for those 4K displays or large multi-monitor setups as there is just 2GB of frame buffer allotted to each GPU. This card has a total of 4GB of memory, but that memory is not shared between the two GPU's just like a traditional NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU setup. Read on to see how it performs when we put this card to the test across three screen resolutions.

Today we look at a customised, overclocked version of the new Nvidia GTX770 graphics card from MSI. The latest GTX770 is based around the same GK104 GPU that was used in the ever popular GTX680. The GTX770 is priced close to the HD7970 and targets the high end gaming audience who don’t want to compromise their frame rate performance at high resolutions. Should this be making your shortlist for a new system upgrade?
