With AMD’s R9 290 coming in at a price point of $399 Nvidia’s GTX 780 has been put under pressure at its $499 price point since the R9 290 more or less beats it for 100 dollars less. Nvidia was already on the defensive from the release of the R9 290X, forced to drop the price of its GTX 780 down from $649 to $499, but with the release of the R9 290 at a much lower price than expected the GTX 780 is surely due another price cut? Well Gigabyte aren’t hanging around for that to happen and they are instead doing something a bit different by making a GTX 780 “GHz Edition”. Yes you heard that right, a GHz Edition – that notorious AMD phrase which AMD used on the HD 7970 GHz Edition and HD 7870 GHz Edition. Gigabyte’s interpretation of a GTX 780 “GHz Edition” is taking the GTX 780 GPU and overclocking it from the stock 863MHz on the core and 900MHz on the boost, to 1020MHz on the core and 1072MHz on the boost. That’s a whopping 19% overclock compared to a stock GTX 780!

The review product today will certainly appeal to our audience who appreciate a heavily customised graphics card. The MSI GTX780 Lightning is a 20 (16+3+1) phase power solution featuring a proprietary three fan cooler with separate controllers for each fan. As we would expect with such a flagship solution, the core has also received a substantial clock boost. Is this the ultimate GTX780 if you can afford the £599.99 asking price?

There's been a whole heap of 7790's coming through my door recently and it doesn't look like the flow is going to stop just yet. Never before have I had so many partners eager to get their products tested and reviewed for a particular launch, but as we know, Bonaire has stirred the entry level market right up and consequently every one wants a slice of the pie when it comes to sales. When it comes to the review side of things, what this means for both myself and you, the reader, is the I can give a better representation and judgement on how different cards perform and show their worth.

Here at eTeknix, we strive to give the consumer the best possible advice in every aspect of technology. Today is no different, we are extremely excited to bring you the CrossFireX review of the recently released AMD Radeon R9 Fury X. As we all know, the R9 Fury X is AMD’s latest attempt to take the crown from NVIDIA in the top end consumer GPU market. In some ways, AMD has succeeded, thanks to the introduction of a new GPU architecture and the innovative High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). With the use of HBM, it has been proven that the quantity of VRAM isn’t the issue, it is the quality of the connection and bandwidth allowance for the VRAM to do its work; although more VRAM certainly couldn’t hurt.

Since launching the GTX 200 core one year ago, nVidia have continued to enhance and develop their existing 9000 series, refining the G92 core that began life in the latter part of their 8th generation cards. But other than the fact that prices continue to fall as newer, faster revisions of chips are created, and you can now get a GTX 260 for less than half the price it launched at last year, there have been no new mid-range or low-end cards introduced to round out the bottom of the 200 series model line. Instead we've seen such cards appear as the 9600GSO, 9800GTX and 9800GTX+ to take up these slots. It seems nVidia decided it's time for a new naming convention, and has basically re-released the 9800 GTX+ rebranded as the GTS 250. Let's have a closer look at one of these new cards, the XFX GTS 250, and see if there's anything else to the new name.

Nvidia have always said that the GTX Titan and GTX Titan Black graphics cards were never released to target the gaming audience, however that hasn’t stopped demanding enthusiast gamers buying them by the bucket load. As the GTX780 Ti is ‘only’ equipped with 3GB of GDDR5 memory the move to ‘Titan gaming’ has been the only way for a wealthy Nvidia user to double the memory count. If you want to game at Ultra HD 4K resolution – or across multiple screens then the 6GB of GDDR5 makes sense. Nvidia knew there was a gap and have recently been working with their partners to double the memory count on the older non TI GTX780.
