Part of the much loved Black Edition series from XFX, we see what has been done with the AMD Radeon HD 7850 GPU.
Graphic cards
If you want to spend under $200 on a discrete graphics card you have a large number of choices, but one card that recently managed to catch our attention is the AMD Radeon HD 7850. The AMD Radeon HD 7850 came out on March 4, 2012 and cost $249.99 when we originally reviewed the reference card. This video card is now seven months old and the price for an entry level AMD Radeon HD 7850 card has fallen below $180! The XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB Core Edition is one of those cards and what we are looking at today!

XFXis a well known for their factory overclocked products. In this review we look at
their XFX Radeon HD 7790 Black Edition OC Edition. Let us see how it performs with the
extra performance and if we can overclock it even more.

There's been a whole heap of 7790's coming through my door recently and it doesn't look like the flow is going to stop just yet. Never before have I had so many partners eager to get their products tested and reviewed for a particular launch, but as we know, Bonaire has stirred the entry level market right up and consequently every one wants a slice of the pie when it comes to sales. When it comes to the review side of things, what this means for both myself and you, the reader, is the I can give a better representation and judgement on how different cards perform and show their worth.

The latest AMD Radeon HD 7790 GPUs feature a revised AMD PowerTune Technology implementation, with 8 states, more shader units compared to the versions and higher frequencies. The XFX Black Edition implementation comes with raised speeds from the factory and an enhanced Double Dissipation cooling system for a good efficiency, while maintaining low noise levels.

he AMD Radeon HD 7790 came out late March and it's still AMD's main product for the 100-150 euro price segment. While the Radeon HD 7790 cards are facing strong competition from the Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost, the 1 GB models from AMD certainly still interesting due to their low price. We already tested Radeon HD 7790 cards from ASUS, MSI and Sapphire. Today we'll take a closer look at the XFX Radeon HD 7790 Black Edition 1GB, and compare its performance and price to the other 7790 cards.

So far, XFX released four different video card models based on the new Radeon HD 7770 GPU. Lets see how the Super Overclocked Edition version fared in our tests.

At the top of XFX's 7770 range is the "Jet Black" version of their usual Black Edition Overclocked model with this revision featuring heavily overclocked core and memory, well in excess of the AMD reference design. Today we have one on our test bench and will be putting it up against the GTX 560, also overclocked, in a selection of real world tests including Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The Radeon HD 7770 Black Super Overclocked Edition Double Dissipation is a video card from XFX featuring the new "Cape Verde" mainstream GPU. The card is cooled by the new dual fan cooling system from the same manufacturer, which is both efficient and silent, the GPU reaching no more than 65 degrees after 15 minutes of stress testing in Furmark. The card comes pre-overclocked and still has some headroom left without the need of raising the stock voltage.
