ITX motherboards have been around for long time now. The problem is, they’ve been so far behind in technology and with such high price tags it makes them an option not even worth considering. However, with the release of the Intel Atom processor, a series of ITX motherboards using the processor have been released. Some people say these are the new generation of motherboards. Built with onboard processors, graphics and power supplies, you can easily build a low cost energy efficient computer system for around £200-250.
The motherboard we’ll be reviewing today is manufactured by Zotac, a quickly expanding company. It’s built using the Nvidia ION graphics platform which supports even DirectX10. The Intel Atom processor used in this system is the Dual Core based Atom N330. Costing less than £200, these specifications are certainly quite impressive. Let’s see if the Zotac ION A-Series’ performance is as good as its specifications might suggest….

In the first Preview on eTeknix we are proud to introduce the first LGA-1156 motherboard in the UK, the Asus P7P55D Evo, which is designed to use the new Lynnfield processors that Intel will hopefully be releasing in a few months time. The first of these should be Core i5 750 clocked at 2.66 GHz and confusingly we should also see i7 1156 socket processors in early 2010 with the 860 and 870 clocked at 2.8 GHz and 2.93 GHz respectively. It's worth mentioning before we get started that this preview is based on a pre-production motherboard, so some of the specifications may be altered before it goes in to mass production ready for a September release to coincide with Intel’s i5 launch.

Most of you have seen a zillion of photos/reviews already of this piece of art. Madshrimps will take a light approach on its features, but dedicates a few more pages to focus on performance and overclocking!

Last month, we took a look at AMD's new mainstream processor: the Athlon II 250. We were impressed with both performance and cost. Today, Benchmark Reviews looks at an equally impressive motherboard: the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P. Based on AMD's 770 series chipset, the MA770T-UD3P is one of the first mainstream motherboards to offer full support for AM3 processors and DDR3 memory. Throw in Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 3 manufacturing process and price tag of only $80, and it's easy to see why this board is quickly becoming a budget-build favorite.

MSI are a big brand when it comes to motherboards and they've received world wide regard for their P35 motherboards. Since then, not everything has gone their way, though, with some critics disappointed with their P45 range in part down to the BIOS configuration.
