Today on our test bench we have the latest chipset from AMD which they hope will be attractive to consumers, offing many of the features present on the 785G and adding to this functionality such as SATA 6GB/s. We will be finding out how boards from Asus, Foxconn and Gigabyte perform in a selection of real world gaming, multimedia and productivity tasks to find out which is worth your hand earned cash.

Recently I've had the opportunity to test several small form factor cases aimed at the enthusiast market, and it's been fascinating to see the progress vendors have made in creating cases that allow users to squeeze high performance systems into increasingly smaller spaces. However, the best designed SFF enthusiast case isn't much good without a high performance motherboard, and historically there hasn't been much for the enthusiast in the mini ITX form factor. Until now, at least: ASUS has released their P8Z77-I Deluxe/WD motherboard. Let's see what performance and features they've managed to hammer into this tiny thing.

ECS has never been shy about releasing a new board based on a new chipset or new technology. They seem to always be right there knocking at the door of the latest and greatest that is released and they usually do it at a better price than many others. Their Black Series has captured the attention of many enthusiasts, and today the ECS A890GXM-A Motherboard has our attention as we put it on the bench!

The idea behind Intel's SRT was that you could use a smaller SSD drive, say 20GB, and combine that with a larger traditional mechanical drive and the SSD drive would be used as cache which would in turn be faster than just having everything run off the mechanical drive. Overall, it was never going to be as fast as a true SSD-only drive for everything, but it's never going to be as expensive either.

Even though the Intel Z68 chipset is out there, motherboards based on the Intel P67 continue to be attractive options for systems based on Intel socket 1155 CPUs. In fact, according to ASUS, the sales of P67-based motherboards are still outperforming those of Z68-based products. ASUS offers a wide range of motherboards based on this chipset, and today we are going to take a look at the P8P67 PRO model, which is a top mid-range model (or entry high-end model, depending on your point of view).

The ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 is an ATX version of the GRYPHON Z87, with two more SATA-600 ports and a better audio codec. It is part of ASUS' TUF (The Ultimate Force) series and, as such, comes with ASUS' exclusive thermal armor to improve the system's thermal management. Let's check it out.
