ASUS P7H57D-V EVO is definitely an original motherboard. However, while the support for the latest peripheral interfaces is nice, the simultaneous support for the integrated graphics and multiple discrete graphics cards seems to be a purely marketing feature that will hardly be useful. But at least you have the freedom to use anything from a low-end CPU and integrated graphics to a top-class quad-core CPU with two discrete graphics cards.

But how many people know they also make workstation and server class products? - We have known about this for a while and have finally gotten one in (complete with a socket 1156 Xeon for the CPU) for testing in our lab.

The introduction of a new platform is always a rather secretive affair but as the i5 launch date nears, P55 chipset motherboard previews are coming through thick and fast. Although whispers of high overclocks and unrivalled performance are usually rumoured with a new socket, the i5 series seems to appeal more to the average user as a mid range CPU rather than full out performance for hardcore enthusiasts that the i7 can provide.
If you have to choose between these two models, it's really easy. Deluxe has a tad better power supply system and a formally better audio codec. But EVO offers eSATA on the rear panel. You have to agree that the boards are very similar. The key difference is TurboV Remote that is not available for EVO.

In the first Preview on eTeknix we are proud to introduce the first LGA-1156 motherboard in the UK, the Asus P7P55D Evo, which is designed to use the new Lynnfield processors that Intel will hopefully be releasing in a few months time. The first of these should be Core i5 750 clocked at 2.66 GHz and confusingly we should also see i7 1156 socket processors in early 2010 with the 860 and 870 clocked at 2.8 GHz and 2.93 GHz respectively. It's worth mentioning before we get started that this preview is based on a pre-production motherboard, so some of the specifications may be altered before it goes in to mass production ready for a September release to coincide with Intel’s i5 launch.
