ASUS is known for many things; they make great enthusiast class motherboards and add-in GPUs. But how many people know they also make workstation and server class products? - We have known about this for a while and have finally gotten one in (complete with a socket 1156 Xeon for the CPU) for testing in our lab.

The P8P67 LE is the baby of Asus’ extensive full-ATX Sandy Bridge motherboard range. The variant we are looking at today is one of the B3 editions, meaning it doesn’t suffer from the potential SATA issue that plagued the first generation of all P67 motherboards.

It has been a few years since Sapphire has put out a new motherboard. Here we are though, getting ready for a look at their first Intel motherboard since the days of the Intel Pentium 4! The Sapphire Pure Black X58 supports USB 3.0, SATA 6, and CrossfireX for starters! Is the Sapphire Pure Black X58 motherboard going to be the right board for you? Read on to find out!

So for some time now we have known that the next generation Intel chipset was on the way and today it properly launches under the Z97 branding. We have three boards to run through our performance tests today, all with completely different approaches to Z97 and they are Gigabytes Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK, the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and the Maximus VII Hero from ASUS.

So far, ASUS has released two motherboards based on the new AMD 990FX chipset, the Crosshair V Formula and the Sabertooth 990FX. Both have similar specifications and feature four PCI Express x16 slots, but the Crosshair V Formula comes with a better audio codec, two additional USB 3.0 ports, better networking chip, and more overclocking options. Let's check out the top-of-the-line socket AM3+ motherboard from ASUS.

The A88X-PRO is a socket FM2+ motherboard from ASUS, based on the most high-end chipset for this new platform, the A88X. It is targeted to the forthcoming FM2+ "Kaveri" APUs, but it is also compatible with socket FM2, second-generation APUs from AMD, codenamed "Trinity." Let's see what this motherboard has to offer.

Mostly we cover high end motherboards at the Shrimps due to our enthusiast reviewing nature. However not everybody has the funds to opt for a 200 or more Euros board. Sometimes a balance has to be found between the different components used, to stay below a certain budget. Most compromises have to be made in onboard features. Users tend to cash out more on the fastest CPU and/or GPU they can afford. In builds it's usually with motherboards where cutbacks are done and sometimes even a motherboard with a lower specced chipset is chosen. For socket 1155 MSI offers the budget minded user the choice to be able to buy a motherboard, based on the high end socket 1155 Intel Z77 chipset, yet all at a very affordable price. That's where the Z77A-G43 pops up, time to give the board a spin in the Madshrimps lab.

Like any major chipset release, there's bound to be a bunch of boards come in and the release of the new Llano platform is no different. The A75 board that sat at the top of the pile today when it came to grabbing the next product to test is the ASRock A75 Extreme6. Before I started writing this, I actually headed over to NewEgg just to see what kind of price point the A75 Extreme6 came in at, and I found myself legitimately surprised to see that it was currently the most expansive A75 board at $139.99. Don't get me wrong, $139.99 is an extremely good price, but it's just a counteraction to the fact that we usually associate ASRock with offering us some of the cheapest boards on the market. Saying that, we've seen more expensive boards come from the company and stand out.

When you’re the biggest mainboard company in town, it’s right that you should spend time ‘shooting for the stars’. At the same time, you also need to think about customers who DO want the latest in Z87 chipset technology – but who don’t want to spend the price of a laptop on their mainboard. KitGuru’s cameras were invited along to the Asus Regional HQ for some engineer-led unboxing action. Here’s the latest: The Asus Z87 Pro mainboard..
