Based on AMD A85X Chipset, the BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A85W motherboard supports the latest Socket FM2 'Trinity' APUs and is priced under $100. Biostar also optimized this particular board for high quality sound reproduction, so audiophiles are in luck! Read on to see how the BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A85W motherboard does when we put it to the test with an AMD A10-5800K APU!

The Z77 OC Formula is one of the high performance motherboards from ASRock, was built in cooperation with the well-known overclocker Nick Shih and features a 12 + 4 VRM design covered by a massive waterblock/heatsink, an 8-layer PCB, measuring points, plenty of thermal sensors and more. What we also like about this board is the fact that they have removed the legacy components like Floppy/IDE interfaces along with the PCI slots, in order to have a clean motherboard PCB design in the end.

Gigabyte’s top level motherboards have always stood out from the rest of their motherboard offerings, not just on paper with the best specifications that they have to offer, but they also physically stand out with striking designs and colour schemes to suit. To accompany the new UP7, dubbed as “A New Legend Is Born”, we find Intel’s ever popular Z77 chipset, and this combination is set to make this one of Gigabyte’s most powerful consumer boards on the market.

ASUS’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) products cater to gamers and hardware enthusiasts. Many of these same people attend LAN parties. No want wants to lug a huge system to a LAN party, it just is not fun. That is one of the reasons why ASUS has a “Gene” line of motherboards. These are micro ATX boards that are perfect for building a great LAN or small for factor system. Many people think micro ATX boards lack many features that normal ATX boards have, but the board we are taking a look at today is a ROG board. The ASUS Maximus V Gene features an all digital power delivery design in their Extreme Engine Digi+ II, a mPCIe combo card so you can add an mSATA SSD or a mPCIe card of your choice, ASUS’s own 8-channel Supreme FX III sound solution, CrossFireX and SLI support, and native PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0. That is just the tip of the iceberg there are so many features in this board you won’t believe it is only a micro ATX board! Read on as we take a look...

Without a new chipset coming down the pipe for a few months it is up to the motherboard manufactures to be the innovators and make the latest Z77 motherboards sexy and exciting. It is for this reason all the major players in the industry are turning to Thunderbolt, which has been used in the Apple market for some time, but is relatively new to the PC scene
