The ECS HDC-I is a Mini-ITX motherboard with an AMD E-350 CPU soldered on it, aimed on HTPCs and multimedia PCs. Let's test it.

Just yesterday we had a look at the ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 and it did a good job of impressing us. Priced under the Z68 Extreme7 Gen3, we'll be today looking at the Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 to see what it can offer us.

Motherboards based on the Intel H67 chipset are the best option if you are building a basic PC with integrated video using an Intel processor, or need an affordable motherboard using the microATX form factor for building a small form factor (SFF) PC. Currently, ASUS has six motherboards based on this chipset. Let's take a look at the P8H67-M EVO, which is a microATX solution featuring two PCI Express x16 slots.

AMD caused quite a stir when they released the Fusion set of APU's as it gave rival competition to Intel but with support for DirectX 11. Motherboard manufacturers were keen to jump on board producing Mini-ITX based boards around the E-350 APU. Shortly after the E-350 saga, AMD released the next in the APU line-up and this included the A8-3850, shortly followed by the slightly lower spec A6-3650 which differed by giving users a fully fledged socket, opposed to an all-in-one soldered APU like the E-350 had. This gave users a bit more flexibility in terms of upgrading the APU as and when they wanted or needed to.

That said, today I will be checking out another Z68 board in the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD5, a premium Z68 offering that retails for almost $100 more than the MSI mainboard. This time around, in addition to our standard review analysis, we will be comparing benchmarks between the two boards and against a P67 system to see the performance improvement that Intel's latest chipset brings to the table.

X79 has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues for quite some time, and with AMD not being the big hit that everyone thought it would be, Intel has gained a much bigger following than they first anticipated. Asus we knew would be one of the first to showcase what fantastic new boards they were going to release and whilst we knew the Pro and Deluxe would be available, we didn’t hear much about Sabertooth or ROG. We can now confirm, and after the fact that we saw it first hand at an exclusive Asus X79 event, that a Sabertooth board will be released.

The Rampage IV Extreme. We've already looked at it in preview form and the board looks the goods. It's also been the main board that's behind our 3960X launch coverage for the simple reason it looks to be one of the best available come launch day. Since everything is already sitting so nicely in the Rampage IV Extreme, it seemed like the perfect motherboard to look at first up. The ROG line of boards have a strong past and having already previewed the Rampage IV Extreme, it's pretty fair to say that they're going to have a strong future.

MSI has released four motherboard models for the new socket 2011 platform, the X79A-GD45, the X79MA-GD45, the X79A-GD65, and the X79A-GD65 (8D), targeted to the most high-end processor Intel offers for desktops today, the Core i7 "Sandy Bridge-E" models. Let's take a look at the X79A-GD65 (8D), which comes with five PCI Express x16 slots.
