Motherboards
ASUS' M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard is built around the 55nm AMD 890GX and SB850 southbridge. It features 128MB of onboard DDR3-1333 Sideport memory for the integrated DX10.1 ATI Radeon HD 4290 graphics. Its AM3 CPU socket will accommodate AMD Phenom II and Athlon II processors, right through to the six-core Phenom II X6 (code name 'Thuban'/140W CPU).
Motherboards
We reviewed a lot of motherboards based on the AMD 890GX chipset. Most were original, for example, MSI 890GXM-G65 was one of the most feature-rich mATX boards available, ECS A890GXM-A offered most peripheral functionality, finally, Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H provided the most convenient way to build a CrossFire rig. Now let's see what ASUS M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 can offer.
Motherboards
Today we are going to be looking at the M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 motherboard from Asus which is geared for users who want to overclock their system. It features their ‘Xtreme Design’ and dual intelligent processors design which we’ve seen on most of their latest motherboards so users can squeeze every possible ounce of performance from their system.

Have you ever known someone that just has to tinker with things? You know the guy I am talking about. It is never good enough. There is always one more tweak, hack, or adjustment to be done to get that few extra MHz out of their systems. Well, imagine a room full of the same people. This is what you get when you talk about ASUS’ R&D team. ASUS makes some great boards, but to the R&D team it is still not enough.
Motherboards
Prior to the launch of the new Sandy Bridge-E platform, we have to work our way through the AMD based boards we received. Today we're looking at the ASUS M5A97 Evo and this is one of the more interesting boards we've looked at due to the fact it carries with it a price tag of only $119 US.
Motherboards
Today we shall review ASUS M5A97 EVO, a mid-end motherboard based on AMD 970, and ASUS M5A99X EVO, a similar but higher-end solution for those willing to build a rig with multiple graphics cards working in symmetrical CrossFire or SLI.
Motherboards
The ASUS M5A97 R2.0 is an entry-level motherboard for AMD socket AM3+ processors. It uses the AMD 970 chipset, which is a simpler version of the AMD 990FX. Let's take a look at it!
Motherboards
At the end of last month during Computex we saw the AMD 990FX chipset launch which brought with it some strong features. One of the more appealing ones was that it supports the new Bulldozer CPUs that are due out later this year. Because AMD aren't changing the socket, though, for the first generation of Bulldozer we can have boards now that support it while also supporting the current crop of CPUs from AMD.
Motherboards
When we reviewed the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX motherboard several weeks ago, the planned launch date for AMD's new AM3+ compatible Bulldozer chips was September 19th. Finally on October 12th the chips began popping into online inventories everywhere. Unfortunately a slew of reviews published that same day gave the FX series Zambezi chips scathing remarks. Despite lackluster performance from the new FX processors, AM3+ does still have some benefits to offer AMD users, particularly if you're still on an older AM2+ board or utilizing nVidia SLI. If a $200 motherboard isn't in your budget, the ASUS M5A99X EVO we have for review today may be just your cup of tea.
Motherboards
