With that said, today we’ll be reviewing out the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard, which as you may expect is a mITX formfactor motherboard based off Intel’s Z87 chipset. This is one of ASRock’s latest motherboards and despite the fact that it’s based off a 17cmx17cm size, the motherboard is very full featured sporting a full PCIe x16 slot for your high powered graphics, six phase DrMOS digital power delivery system...
Intel’s Z87 chipset may be aimed at high end consumers and power users but the reality is the majority of people who use the Z87 chipset don’t need as much connectivity as is offered by most of the really high end motherboards. In fact a substantial portion of Z87 users will only have a single graphics card, a couple of storage devices and maybe 4-5 USB devices at the most. That’s where today’s product steps in – the ASRock Z87M Extreme4 motherboard. This motherboard comes in the micro-ATX form factor with a more basic, but still sufficient, array of connectivity. SATA and USB connectivity has been dropped to the bare minimum provided by the Z87 chipset and the PCIe connectivity is optimised for consumers with only a few PCIe devices. Of course it has a competitive price to match this reduction in connectivity and for most consumers the Z87M Extreme4 will still have more than enough connectivity to meet all their needs. High speed memory support, high quality audio, an 8 phase CPU VRM and a UEFI BIOS give this entry-level Z87 motherboard all the high end features most consumers want.
Wahnsinn! So könnte man das brandneue ASRock Z87M OC Formula Mainboard für Intel Haswell CPUs wohl im kürzesten Mainboard Review aller Zeiten mit nur einem Wort beschreiben.
Getreu dem Motto nutze den Platz konnten wir nur staunen, was auf so einem kleinen Z87 Micro-ATX 8-Layer PCB Mainboard untergebracht werden kann und vor allem welche genialen Optionen sich ASRock bei dieser LGA1150 Hauptplatine für Übertakter ausgedacht hat.
Overclock Enthusiasten werden spätestens beim Blick in das UEFI Setup Freudentränen in den Augen haben, insofern verwundert es auch nicht, daß ASRock mit dem Z87M OC Formula unseren Overclocking Dream Award 07/2013 locker verdient hat.

We are happy to report that things have changed significantly with new Z97 ASRock boards. Not only do all but one contain a native M.2 Gen 2 x2 connector, but more importantly, the Extreme 6 contains what ASRock terms as an ‘Ultra M.2’ built on a PCIe Gen 3.0 4 lane base. This provides for up to a whopping 32GB/s transfer speed from a single M.2 SSD. Is that future proofing things or what?
