"Supermicro produces products for servers, and the X9DRL-EF is a dual socket LGA2011 motherboard for Xeon E5-2600 series processors with a TDP of up to 130 W, based on the Intel C602J chipset. One of the highlights of this motherboard is the use of the standard ATX form factor (12 x 10 inches or 304.8 x 254 mm), instead of using a server-specific form factor such as EE-ATX, E-ATX, or proprietary. Let's see what this motherboard has to offer."

Gigabyte recently invited Legit Reviews to come out and take a look at some of their upcoming Intel Z87 motherboards and that is an offer that we could resist. Gigabyte has roughly 30 Intel 7 series motherboards and expects to have about the same number of boards for the Intel 8 series. Gigabyte expects to have around 15 boards at launch, which is too many for any one site to cover. Today we'll be covering a handful of their upcoming Intel Z87 motherboards and going over some of the key features of those boards.

When you’re the biggest mainboard company in town, it’s right that you should spend time ‘shooting for the stars’. At the same time, you also need to think about customers who DO want the latest in Z87 chipset technology – but who don’t want to spend the price of a laptop on their mainboard. KitGuru’s cameras were invited along to the Asus Regional HQ for some engineer-led unboxing action. Here’s the latest: The Asus Z87 Pro mainboard..

The ASUS Z87-Pro supports all the latest generation 22nm Haswell Intel LGA1150 Core processors. The Z87-Pro offers 12-phase DIGI+ power, ESD guards for the USB, LAN and video ports as well as fuse ICs for the DRAM, solid capacitors rated for 5,000 hours at 105C, and a stainless steel back I/O for an all-around protection and extended motherboard lifespan. In terms of connectivity, the Z87 Pro has the standard six SATA 6G ports from the Z87 chipset but also adds two more via an ASMedia 1061 controller, four USB 3.0 ports via the Intel Z87 chipset as well as four more USB 3.0 ports via an ASMedia 1042 in the top back I/O. Wirelessly, the ASUS Z87 Pro uses a dual-band Qualcomm Atheros Wireless-N module with Bluetooth 4.0 and comes with a 2TR2 antenna that uses gold-plated SMA connectors. For display output, the ASUS Z87 Pro supports up to 4096 x 2160 @ 24Hz via the HDMI, as well as the DisplayPort, and is also able to handle displays up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz via the DVI-D or the VGA output ports.

Small form factor PC’s have been gaining a lot of momentum and favor with hardware enthusiasts and hardcore gamers these past couple of years. Since more features are integrated into the CPU in recent releases, it means more real estate has been made on ITX form factor motherboards for extras that may well have not fit previously. With the release of Intel Haswell CPU’s and Z87 chipset, motherboard vendors are now more than ever able to condense the features of a full size ATX motherboard into the ITX form factor without much (if any) sacrifice. See for yourself, take a look at an average Z68 or Z77 ATX motherboard and you will start to notice just how much space isn’t occupied. In this article Benchmark Reviews takes an in-depth look at the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard, reporting back on special features and performance as well as giving a visual commentary on the aesthetics of this tiny beast.

With a strong name in the server environment, we see how Supermicro goes with its new consumer orientated Z87 motherboard, the C7Z87-OCE.

We have nothing against expensive motherboards, to the contrary, but we don't like paying for things we're not going to use. The MSI Z87 XPower is clearly aimed at extreme overclockers using extreme forms of cooling such as liquid nitrogen. So why should they be forced to pay for features they likely won't use for overclocking, such as 10 SATA600 ports, 10x USB 3.0, a KillerNic card, WLAN, Creative audio drivers and so on. None of these have any influence on 3DMark overclocking scores, but they definitely have an influence on the price.

The ASUS X79 DELUXE is a top mid-range motherboard for LGA2011 systems, aimed on overclockers and enthusiasts. It includes four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, four SATA-300 and eight SATA-600 ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, a high-end audio controller, and an integrated Wi-Fi interface. Let's check it out.
