It's here, ASRock's Z170 OC Formula motherboard has finally arrived. Overclockers have been waiting for it, and so have we. Check out our full review.

Intel’s Sandybridge has been dominating the headlines in 2011 with a heady combination of performance and competitive pricing. The H67 chipset enabled on-CPU graphics and Intel’s new Quick sync transcoding engine and the P67 chipset delivered great overclocking capabilities with the new K series processors. The Z68 is set to merge the capabilities into a single platform with other enhancements to sweeten the deal.

Having already previewed three boards that use the Z68 chipset, we already have a good idea of what's going on with the new chipset launched by Intel today. If you haven't already looked at our previews, I'd recommend checking out the ASRock Z68 Pro3 and Extreme4 Preview along with the MSI Z68A-GD80 Preview to get a better idea of what exactly we're dealing with here today.

Motherboards
Already we've looked at a couple of PCIe 3.0 boards; the first was the ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 and that's the big brother to the board we're looking at today. The other was the MSI Z68A-GD80-G3. While both are great boards in their own right, the problem at the moment is that nothing can really make use of the PCIe 3.0 capabilities on offer from these boards. Saying that, though, one would argue that if you're interesting in making use of the next generation LGA 1155 chips from Intel and a PCIe 3.0 video card in the future, it's almost silly to buy a non "Gen3" motherboard.

The new Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 motherboard from ASRock comes with a rich software bundle, but also very useful features like C.C.O., Intel Smart Response Technology, Lucid VIRTU or PCI-E 3.0 slots (to be used with future Ivy Bridge CPUs). The color scheme has been reworked, so now the motherboard has a more professional look.
Motherboards
Even before I took over the Motherboard category here at TweakTown, I'd been using ASRock boards for a while since my VGA and RAM testbeds both used them. ASRock make some great boards, but there was always one little problem with them. Aesthetically they never looked great and considering what a shallow world we live in these days, the overall look of the boards were probably a little bit of a downer for some people.
Motherboards
Over the course of the last 4 years ASRock has matured into a company capable of providing some of the best constructed and fully equipped motherboards on the market. The ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 Intel Motherboard is packed full of performance and functionality to enable high-power computing and to fully unleash the potential of the latest processors, video cards, storage, and, power efficiency technologies.

This year we have seen ASRock launch an attack on the high end market with a steady stream of quality motherboards for both AMD and Intel platforms. I use several of their boards myself at home and have found them to be very reliable and extremely straightforward to overclock. Today we are looking at their new Z68 Extreme 7 Gen 3 product which combines a fully loaded feature list with an eye popping appearance.
