The ASUS P8Z77I-Deluxe is perhaps the most comprehensive mini-ITX board that we've seen. Features include PCI-Express x16, 2x DDR3, 2x SATA600, 2x SATA300, 2x eSATA, Intel-based Gigabit LAN and a Realtek ALC898 audio codec. The mini-PCIe slot is filled with a combined 802.11n WLAN and Bluetooth adapter. What's different about this board is that ASUS put the CPU power supply on a separate PCB, which made room for eight phases and improves overclockability and energy-efficiency.

The Trinity line of APU's from AMD have shown us that it is possible to have respectable CPU and GPU performance all in one chip. Along with that you get low power consumption and a low price to boot. But as we have shown in our recent ECS FM2 motherboard review, these Trinity chips also have a little something for the enthusiast as well.

More and more companies are jumping on the mITX bandwagon with the Z77 platform, but the majority of these miniature boards lack the type of features found in their larger counterparts. The latest mITX board on the market, the EVGA Z77 Stinger, however is an entirely different beast, as it is a pint sized motherboard with enthusiast grade features such as native PCIe 3.0, SATA 6G and USB 3.0.

The MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming motherboard is a standard ATX form factor board and supports the newest Ivy Bridge processors and Sandy Bridge. The Z77A-G45 Gaming board is targeted at people who are looking for high end features at a mainstream price point. MSI has included solid cap capacitors and super ferrite core chokes in the design and gives it a military class III rating. The higher quality components used to build the board allow it to achieve solid overclocks and resist deterioration. MSI designed the Z77A-G45 Gaming board to provide an excellent all around experience, there is extra space between the PCI-E 3.0 slots to provide airflow between video cards, DDR 3000 support, a Killer E2205 NIC card built in, as well as the Sound Blaster Cinema audio system. All these features provide for an excellent gaming experience. A UEFI BIOS is included with the MSI Click BIOS II interface and OC Genie II overclocking utility.

When it comes to performance the MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming motherboard didn't disappoint. We ran the synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark, as well as the real world gaming in Battlefield 3 where we use fraps. Not once were we let down with the scores or gaming experience while playing through the levels. While looking at the peripherals like Audio performance, SATA III 6Gbps performance, and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 performance everything was right where we would expect to find it. Overclocking on the MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming motherboard was a breeze...

When trying to think of a name for our look at Asus’s new Z87 mainstream motherboard options I went through countless bad jokes and Bond Goldmember comments. I came to the conclusion that much like Asus I would let the boards speak for themselves. Today we are going to take a look at the Asus Z87 Pro and Z87 Plus, both what they call Channel boards. In other words this is Asus’s standard lineup. In the past I have been extremely impressed with what Asus had to offer in their standard lineup; hopefully they can keep that up. Let’s see what they have to offer.

After what feels like months of prepping, testing, photography, videos, and writing are finally reaching the end of our Haswell launch motherboard coverage and I think we may have saved the best for last. We haven’t covered one of Asus’s TUF Series of motherboards official although we do have one in our cooling test bench and we have seen countless boards in our reader’s rigs. So to finish things off we are going to take a look at Asus's new Micro ATX TUF Series Z87 Gryphon. Its smaller form factor is a first for the TUF line and I am very excited to see what the fuss has been about.
