CES has always been home to the latest offerings from the smallest and biggest brands in the market. This was the prime location for AMD to launch their Fusion APU which will be the first in a long line of products that combine a CPU and GPU together, much like Intel's successful Sandy Bridge platform that launched around the same time.
ECS is trying to gain a foothold in the "Extreme" motherboard market. They are trying to do this with the Black Extreme series of motherboards. Today we are going to look at one of the the Black Extreme motherboards, the ECS P67H2-A Black Extreme. We were able to take a sneak peak of it in late December 2010, and it looks promising! GIGABYTE has been extremely aggressive with the new Z68 chipset and it's very much out with the old and in with the new. Over the past few weeks the GIGABYTE Z68 boards have been the ones to show up a lot in corner stores for sale. And after hearing that they hope to achieve 80% of channel stocking at launch, it makes sense.
When I tested the GIGABYTE E350N-USB3 in February I was really impressed with what GIGABYTE and AMD were able to do with the E-350 based Fusion platform. One thing really bugged me about the board, though. The fact that it used active cooling was quite a disappointment, because it just felt like it didn't need it.
One of the first motherboards we received after the Sandy Bridge launch the Gigabyte P67A-UD7 and we almost instantly fell in love with the board. Sadly were we unable to get the review posted before the worldwide chipset recall but we did spend a considerable amount of time tweaking and tuning the board and even posted some very impressive numbers for the HWBot team.
Pour accompagner son architecture Sandy Bridge, Intel a comme à l'accoutumée, lancé des chipsets compagnons : les P67 Express et H67 Express destinés au grand public. Si le premier permet d'accéder aux fonctions d'overclocking avancées des CPU modèles "K", il est par contre incapable d'exploiter le GPU intégré à cette nouvelle architecture à contrario du second. Cependant, ce dernier se voit bridé au niveau des fonctions d'overclocking lui interdisant les changements de coefficients. Lorsque l'on ajoute à ces faits, l'attribution exclusive et plutôt discutable des IGP les plus rapides (HD 3000) aux seuls modèles "K", on se rend bien compte de l'incohérence de cette gamme de chipsets. Intel lance à présent le Z68 Express qui cumule les avantages de ses deux prédécesseurs et apporte quelques petits plus logiciels. Afin de l'éprouver, nous testons ce jour l'Asus P8Z68-V Pro, verdict ?
