Today we are looking at the ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Champion – hot on the heels of our analysis of the X79 Extreme11. The Fatal1ty X79 Champion seems to be somewhat of a bargain when compared to the £500 X79 Extreme11 … as it only costs £330. This puts it up against Asus top-of-the range Rampage IV Extreme motherboard which is also designed with serious overclockers in mind.

One of the more recent additions to the high end X79 market is ASRock's Fatal1ty X79 Champion motherboard. With a bunch of high end features such as enhanced on-board audio (including headphone amp) and support for quad SLI as well as the fastest CPUs around there is a lot to make this product worth more than a little consideration. So today we take a look at the Fatal1ty X79 Champion board.

When in the market for a motherboard, most users who have decided on Intel for their processor are left with a big choice, do they go X79 or Z77? Well it comes down really to your main use of the system and more so your budget. Z77 is typically the chip set of choice when it comes to day-to-day computing and gaming, but if you're more like us at eTeknix where gaming is not a thing that you get time for or you generally don't want to do, where the focus is more on sheer power for the likes of video rendering and image editing, then with out a doubt X79 is the way to go.

ASRock is another company that seems to be reworking their image. In the past few years they have moved from being an entry level company to one that designs and manufactures some high-end hardware. One of their newest motherboards to hit the market is the Fatal1ty P67 Professional. This board was co-developed with the help of Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel. For those of you that do not know who this is, Fatal1ty got his start in the late 1990s playing games like Quake III Arena. He was one of a group of people that helped to bring professional gaming into the "real world". He also has his own line of gaming gear and has co-branded with several companies in his career.

The P67 chipset continues to be very present on the market; it shows by the fact that we looked at the Maximus IV Extreme from ASUS just the other week, and if you head on over to Newegg, there's a load of P67 based motherboards not only listed, but also in stock. Today we're looking at another P67 based board and this one comes from ASRock. The particular board we're looking at today falls into the new Fatal1ty series from ASRock which has so far seen the Fatal1ty P67 Professional. Today we're looking at the Fatal1ty P67 Performance, a board that comes in cheaper than the original Professional version.

User müssen also auf einige Funktionen verzichten. So lassen sich etwas die PEG Lanes der CPU nicht aufteilen womit keine SLI-Unterstützung möglich ist. Zudem sind die Overclocking-Möglichkeiten beschränkt.
