Today TweakTown marks a return to our consumer motherboard reviews with a close look at Supermicro's C7Z97-OCE by our new editor Steven Bassiri.
The Z97 chipset is undoubted the king of the consumer chipsets; featured in almost all pre-built systems from the likes of OverclockersUK and PC Specialist, it is a safe yet, powerful base for even the most formidable gaming computers. Thanks to the Z97 chipset being released on the ‘tock’ cycle of the Intel production, it features all of the best bits from previous generations along with more features such as SATA Express being more widely used and M.2 support becoming common among almost every motherboard.

ASUS P5Q Deluxe motherboard is a good example of a top model, which does not irritate common users with its exotic features for 'hardcore gamers' and the like. Four LAN ports are twice as cool as two ports, of course, and six PCIEx16 slots are approximately three times as 'powerful' as two standard slots. But this motherboard works out its high price not resorting to quantitative measures.

Along with the obvious support of Intel Lynnfield socket 1156 processors, the ASUS P7P55D-Deluxe motherboard features three PCI Express 2.0 x16 videocard slots for multi-graphic card set ups.
