ASRock have been making a name for themselves in the last year, moving up through the ranks from ‘budget’ brand, to a serious player in the enthusiast marketplace. Today we are looking at their flagship Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen 3 motherboard and putting it through a variety of game and synthetic benchmark tests with an overclocked Core i7 2600k processor and CrossfireX graphics.

The Z68 Fatal1ty Professional Motherboard from ASRock is an upgraded product from the same series, featuring a Digital PWM, XFast USB Technology, XFast LAN, V16+2 CPU Power Phases, no less than 6 USB 3.0 ports (4 rear and 2 for the front panel) and 6 SATA3, C.C.O., THX TruStudio, and the unique Fatal1ty Mouse Port, which allows us to set the desired mouse polling rate, up to 1000Hz. Of course, thanks to the Z68 chipset we also have Lucid Virtu capabilities and multi VGA output options: one D-Sub port, two HDMI ports and one DVI-D port by the bundled HDMI to DVI adapter.

So far, ASRock has released four motherboard models based on the Intel Z68 chipset. The Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3, which is the model we are taking a look at, is the highest-end model offered by ASRock. The manufacturer also offers a mainstream model, the Z68 Pro3, a top mid-range model, the Z68 Extreme4, and a miniATX model, the Z68 Pro3-M.
