The Z87H3-A3X motherboard from ECS takes part of their entry-level DRONE series and is equipped with 6 power phases, Intel I217-V Gigabit LAN controller, ALC1150 with support of the Creative Sound Blaster Cinema software and 2-way Crossfire and SLI support. This all comes at an affordable price for more budget-oriented gamers.

The Z87-Deluxe/Quad is reserved for people who really want to use Thunderbolt in the future. If you belong to that group, there really isn't a reason not to buy this motherboard. Actually, if you're planning on building a new PC with Thunderbolt it wouldn't make sense to choose anything else but Thunderbolt 2.0, and right now this ASUS board is the only option on the market.

ASUS delayed the release of the Maximus VI Formula till after Computex 2013. We got a glimpse of the board at the ASUS booth and it looked at first glance like a TUF/ROG hybrid. The ROG series are renown as high end motherboards, stunning looks and high performance; however not engineered solely for gamers, but the enthusiast and extreme overclockers get their sweets too. Usually the ROG series had 3 members: the mATX Gene, the midrange Formula and the flagship, the Extreme board. With the Z87 series, ASUS throws an entry level priced ROG in the mix with the Maximus VI Hero board and even a mITX board, the Impact. The Hero is comparable as being the vanilla board of the Republic of Gamers line up. The small mATX Gene VI gives those with small cases the option to install a top class motherboard; the Formula for those that seek a full ATX board packed with features, yet still at an affordable price level. The flagship Extreme board is the most expensive and targeted at those that want either the best of the best or the ultimate board that can push the envelope, no matter the cooling method used.

The MSI Z87M Gaming Motherboard, is equipped with many features. The Z87M Gaming Motherboard comes equipped with a Killer NIC E2200 LAN and Audio Boost which includes Creative Sound Blaster Cinema and MSI’s OC Genie 4 for those of you who don’t have time to spend overclocking. Unlike some other manufacturers mATX motherboards the MSI Z87M Gaming is both SLI and Crossfire capable while including 2 HDMI and 1 Display Port outputs for easy multiple monitor connectivity when using onboard graphics.

The main difference is that the Z87X-OC Force is equipped with a PLX PEX8747 chip that can double the 16 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes from the CPU. Because of that, the four orange PCI-Express slots can be configured 16/0/16/0, 16/0/8/8 and 8/8/8/8 which supports 4-way SLI and 4-way Crossfire. The black PCI-Express x16 slot is directly connected to the CPU, so if you have one video card you want to overclock you have 0 extra latency. It's a clever solution we've seen before with MSI and ASRock.

The FM2A88X EXTREME6+ is the first socket FM2+ motherboard from ASRock, based on the most high-end chipset for this new platform, the A88X. It is targeted to the forthcoming FM2+ "Kaveri" APUs, but it is also compatible with socket FM2, second-generation APUs from AMD, codenamed "Trinity." Let's see what this motherboard has to offer.

With the release of Intel’s latest Z87 chipset and their accompanying Haswell parts, many motherboard manufacturers are scurrying to put out their latest generation of motherboards and with some of the features we’ve seen from various vendors this generation, competition is fiercer than ever...

Today we are going to look at the Aerocool Strike-X Air which is a very innovative chassis, designed to appeal to those enthusiasts who spend a lot of time inside their PC and change hardware frequently. It uses an open design, similar to a test bench, which features a large mesh cover to hide the components .

Implementing all of the extra features that belong on an RoG board on a compact Mini ITX board was a challenge, and ASUS had to come up with some clever solutions. The components for the CPU power supply, for example, have been put on a vertical PCB, and the SupremeFX sound card is also located on a separate PCB (which benefited the audio quality). Extra features such as a debug HEX display were also put on an extra little PCB between the I/O connectors. ASUS definitely achieved squeezing a large amount of features onto very little surface area.

The most striking aspect of the Z87 Extreme11/ac is its 22 SATA ports. 16 of them can be used for professional SAS drives and are provided by LSI SAS3008 controllers. Two of the 22 ports are combined with two mSATA ports, located between the PCI-Express slots. Thanks to a PLX 8747 chip the board is suitable for both 4-way Crossfire and 4-way SLI. Other special features include two Intel Thunderbolt ports.
