The Intel Z77 chipset will be released in April, but we had the privilege of getting the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for a "first look" article. It will be a mainstream socket 1155 motherboard targeted to the forthcoming "Ivy Bridge" processors (third-generation Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors) and also supporting the current "Sandy Bridge" models (second-generation Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors). Let's see what the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 will have to offer.

No one would have believed you if you had claimed a few years back that ASRock would release a £320 motherboard. Ever since the former ASUS budget-brand claimed its independence, every year the manufacturer keeps raising the bar with its deluxe high-end boards. It was that time again recently, when it launched the Socket 1155 motherboard Z77 Extreme11. This Ivy Bridge motherboard comes complete with workstation-like features.

Lets take a look at the latest offering from ASRock, the high-end Z77 Extreme11, which comes with Wi-Fi, two PLX switch chips, and more.

ASRock extend its already very large and very strong Z77 motherboard line with the new massively feature-packed Extreme11 version.

We have a look at our first Intel Z75 based motherboard and see how it differs to the Z77 chipset from a performance point of view.

Today we are going to look at a motherboard from the other end of the ASRock range, the Z68M-ITX/HT motherboard, which occupies the increasingly popular Mini-ITX form factor. This makes it ideal for use in environments where space is restricted, mainly in small form factor and home theatre PC systems.

The last mITX board we looked at carried the A75 based AMD chipset and it's the perfect chipset for this kind of platform, as it's awesome for those cheaper systems. The one before that used the H67 chipset and while a good chipset, it never got the attention that the P67 did, nor the new Z68.

I'm a really big fan of the mATX platform, even more so over the last few years as we've seen that moving to the mATX platform doesn't mean you need to sacrifice the power that most full size ATX boards bring. The release of the new Z68 chipset means a bunch of new boards from companies and today we'll be looking at our first mATX version of the new chipset. The Z68 Pro3-M from ASRock carries a very similar name to a board we've already looked at, the ASRock Z68 Pro3. Of course, the M in this case means we're dealing with an mATX version.
