Let's take a look at one of the first socket 1155 motherboards that will reach the market, the MSI P67A-GD65 (a.ka. MS-7681 Ver 2.0), based on the forthcoming P67 chipset for future Intel processors based on the "Sandy Bridge" architecture. The highlights of this motherboard include four USB 3.0 ports, four SATA-600 ports, high-end components in the voltage regulator circuit, and nice overclocking features.
Motherboards
The MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard brings forth a lot for computer enthusiasts to get excited about, not the least of which are dual PCI Express x16 videocard slots, (4) USB 3.0 ports, (6) SATA 6GB/s ports and specialized tools for seasoned overclockers. For example, if you're one to break out a digital multimeter while overclocking there are handy voltage read points next to the boards' DDR3 memory slots. In the continuing war on capacitor dominance, MSI have turned to low profile heat tolerant solid-state Tantalum caps around the LGA1155 CPU socket.

With the original problems of the Intel P67 platform now well and truly fixed, a Sandy Bridge set-up is once again a great recommendation for any computer enthusiast looking for a new CPU or motherboard. We all know how blisteringly fast, stupendously overclockable and extremely good value the Intel LGA1155 processors are, especially the ‘Core i5 2500K’ and ‘Core i7 2600K’. The ‘K’ series of processors feature the unlocked multiplier meaning they are built for overclocking. Anybody looking forward to enjoying the wonders of these new processors also needs a motherboard to suit their needs and not break the bank. P67 or Z68 boards are exactly where the enthusiast crowd are looking.
