It has been a little while since we have had an ASRock P55 board up on the bench. The last one was the when the Lynnfield CPUs launched. At the time it was the P55 Deluxe. This board featured a handy little SATA 3.0 add-in card and was an excellent performer.
The machine based on a CPU like Intel Celeron Processor 220 will be noticeably faster than that based on its "Atomic" counterpart. ASUS ITX-220 may be old, but it's interesting nevertheless. What's more important, it's quite cheap. This motherboard may even be the best solution on this old chipset.

ASUS' P7P55D Deluxe motherboard is an Intel P55 Express platform that represents the flagship feature set available to the Core i5 processor, along with a healthy dose of overclocking tools and features. Gigabyte announced their new 333 lineup end of November 2009. At the 333 Event Show, however there was no word on the AMD CPU supporting motherboards. Focus was mainly on P55 and X58 series. Getting a speedy introduction to the wonders and miracles of AMD overclocking via HWBOT Country Cup I was eager to review one of Gigabyte's latest high end offering, the 790FXTA-UD5. The A in the name reflects it is a souped up 333 version of the previous model 790FXT-UD5.
The only question Whitesburg may start is, "Why is it based on P55 and not H55?" Blame those who decided on the gradual rollout of the LGA1156 platform. As a result of which, P55 PCH was the only available chipset for the first six months. So, if Intel DP55WB remains one of the cheapest in the market, its life cycle will be long. If similar products based on H55 will be cheaper, then there will be no sense in buying this motherboard.
Although AMD's latest chipset the 890GX, codename RS880D, is very similar to last year's 785G - RS880, the most striking improvement is the addition of a new southbridge, the SB850. Supporting USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0, the SB850 opens up much needed additional bandwidth for faster external accessories and solid state drives. While many 890GX boards utilize a full size ATX format, MSI's initial offering is the 890GXM-G65, a microATX style. The 890GX offers integrated graphics, using the RV620 graphics core, which supports DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.1 and a host of video decoding and acceleration formats. CrossFire is supported but the 16 available lanes must be split into a dual 8X configuration. Hybrid CrossFire is also available, allowing use of a HD5450 discrete video card to be paired with the onboard for up to a 25% improvement in gaming performance.
