Asus’ TUF series of motherboards takes a different approach towards the market when compared to the gaming, overclocking, and ‘standard’ line-ups each vendors has in its product catalogue. Built primarily for reliable stability through enhanced thermal management and validated industrial design, can the Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 live up to its ‘TUF’ series branding?

When you compare the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 to previously tested AMD 990FX boards, you can see that the new ASRock board is one of the most comprehensive boards on the market. Whether you will actually use eight USB 3.0 and eight Serial ATA 600 on an AMD board is another question, but if you're in need of high-end Socket AM3+ board, this 990FX Extreme9 is a great option.

The board is definitely original, but at the same time practical enough for a home theater. It has a complete set of peripheral interfaces, high-quality integrated audio, up-to-date graphics core, and, finally, a universal remote.

The AMD 990FX chipset has been out for a while now, yet Biostar's TA990FXE motherboard still gets you in the game with plenty of PCI Express lanes for Crossfire/SLI, and more SATA III connectivity than rival Intel's Z77 platform. What's not to like about all that? Let's dive in, take a close look at the Biostar TA990FXE board, overclock it and run a few pages worth of benchmarks through it's copper traces...

The main difference with the standard Z77A-GD65 is the Killer E2205 network chip. In our most recent large group test the GD65 already earned the Hardware.Info Silver Award in the category 'deluxe, but still affordable'. And like the Z77A-GD65, the new Gaming board made an excellent impression. However, the limited number of new features don't justify the higher price in our opinion. If you really want a KillerNic network card, then you should go for this MSI gaming motherboard, because it's a lot cheaper than the Gigabyte's special gaming Z77-board with the same chip.

The only question Whitesburg may start is, "Why is it based on P55 and not H55?" Blame those who decided on the gradual rollout of the LGA1156 platform. As a result of which, P55 PCH was the only available chipset for the first six months. So, if Intel DP55WB remains one of the cheapest in the market, its life cycle will be long. If similar products based on H55 will be cheaper, then there will be no sense in buying this motherboard.

Today we shall review a motherboard that has maximum PCIe-related features (for a P55-based solution), but lacks heatpipes, additional disk drive controllers -- everything that would prevent it from being reasonably priced.

ECS has released two motherboard models for the new socket 2011 platform, the X79R-AX and the X79R-AX Deluxe, targeted to the most high-end processor Intel offers for desktops today, the Core i7 "Sandy Bridge-E" models. Let's take a look at the X79R-AX, which comes with four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, eight SATA-600 ports, six USB 3.0 ports, and more.
