New chipset, new CPU's and a lot of excitement. Meet the P55 chipset and the new Core i5 CPU in our special review of the new Asus P7P55D Evo motherboard here on MPPC.

Today I will be looking at a brand new product, literally only a week or two from release from one of the best known names in the computer hardware manufacturing business. That manufacturer is MSI or Micro Star International. The product is one of their new motherboards for the new line of I5 Intel CPU’s MSI’s P55 GD65. As it’s from MSI I expect it to be of the highest quality.

MB Chipset is P55 and all MB makers also launched the products at the same time. Currently, the P55 MB price is between 160~280 USD. If you want to buy LGA 1156 platform, i5-750 plus 160USD P55 MB is the best C/P. Certainly, if you need HT and also affordable, you also can consider i7-860. Merely, i7-860 price is very close to LGA1366 platform

Our testing here today showed SuperSpeed USB 3.0 reaching 135MB/s, which is only three to four times faster than the vast majority of Hi-Speed USB 2.0 devices. This is a huge performance difference and is amazing if you actually think about it. In the seven years that Legit Reviews has been doing hardware reviews seeing a performance jump of this magnitude is often unheard of. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 performance on the ASUS P7P55D-E Premium motherboard was simply amazing and offered a much better user experience than SATA 6Gbps, which Legit Reviews took at look at last month. What is amazing is that USB 3.0 performance should still get better...

The ASUS P7P55D Premium motherboard is ideal for serious gamers and power users. The two-chip layout conserves power and delivers advanced performance tuning for a smoother, more realistic experience. Plus, ASUS has pushed the envelope for the standard DDR3 memory specification, hitting speeds of 2133 MHz. The ASUS P7P55D Premium also supports both NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFireX multi-GPU technologies.

Motherboards based on the new H55, H57 and Q57 chipsets are targeted to the new Core i3 and Core i5 processors with integrated video, and MSI has so far released four different models based on H55 and one model based on H57, H57M-ED65 (a.k.a. MS-7587), which brings lots of extra features. Let's take a look on this motherboard.

By the middle of Q1 2009 AMD began releasing new AM3 based processors with integrated DDR3 memory controller, and a revised 785G chipset with new SB710 Southbridge soon followed. ECS joined the fray with their A780GM-M and A780GM-M7 micro-ATX motherboards, and just as they did previously with the AM2+ A780GM-A Ultra, they have followed these with an upscale, full size ATX A785GM-AD3 Black Series. Sharing many of the same features as the rest of their Black Series boards, the A785GM-AD3 offers solid caps, gold plated CPU and RAM contacts, Special ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) and support for AMD OverDrive or traditional overclocking via M.I.B. II BIOS tweaking utility

Today on our test bench we have the latest chipset from AMD which they hope will be attractive to consumers, offing many of the features present on the 785G and adding to this functionality such as SATA 6GB/s. We will be finding out how boards from Asus, Foxconn and Gigabyte perform in a selection of real world gaming, multimedia and productivity tasks to find out which is worth your hand earned cash.

ASRock is best known for its expansive range of affordable motherboards, but in recent years the firm has also developed a reputation for innovation. Unique features like Instant Boot help to
differentiate ASRock's products in a crowded market, but the company's primary focus remains dedicated to delivering better value than its more illustrious rivals. The H55DE3 we are looking at today is a full-ATX solution for the newly released Core i3 and Core i5 Clarkdale CPUs.

Representing the new ASUS P7P55D-E series, this motherboard supports USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s. It uncovers the potential of these controllers without limiting other interfaces. ASUS P7P55D-E Premium justifies its top-class nature, offering corresponding features, quality, as well as power and cooling systems.
