What was the first thing they made after the wheel was invented? I am not sure about what Wikipedia has to say, but to the best of my understanding, it was probably my friend's old school Mazda -- which finally decided to kick the bucket a few weeks ago. To commemorate its death after years of unfaithful service, I decided to poke some fun at him, and brought him to the local junkyard -- also known as a Hyundai dealership -- to check out what the future has in store for him. When I sat down inside the brand new 2011 Elantra parked inside the showroom after gawking at its obnoxiously overdone and fundamentally awkward interpretation of the company's "fluidic sculpture" theme, a pretty female salesperson about our age (I'm 20) walked over and greeted us. She highlighted a few features of the car, and then allowed us to explore on our own. Right after she turned around, I got out of the driver's seat, and leaned over to my friend, who was standing outside. "I think I like the girl more", I said. My friend nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she's prettier than anything around here." (His sister, on the other hand, wasn't very pleased.) My point is, despite the fact there is usually nothing good inside a Hyundai dealership, there can be exceptions. There can be surprises. In the same way, when is the last time you've looked at some compact mini-ITX PC and thought to yourself, "This thing must be one underpowered computer for people who don't care about performance?" Well, as the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. If it has an ASUS P8H67-I Deluxe mITX motherboard under the hood, then don't pee your pants when it smokes the riced out full tower PC next to it. Featuring a standard LGA 1155 socket for the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processors, a PCI Express x16 slot to accommodate the graphics card of your choice, what we have here is some serious awesomeness in a very compact package. Ready to find out more? Let's roll.

We move from one Z97 motherboard into another. Let's see what ASRock is doing via the Z97 Extreme4. Read on for Shawn's full thoughts on this new board.

This is a new X99 motherboard I saw during Computex and was very impressed with how far MSI went to create a great looking motherboard. Much like the X99A Gaming 7 the Godlike is another perfect example of what a high-end gaming motherboard should look like with the added benefit of more cowbell

AMD is releasing yet another chipset (the 8-Series), starting with the 890GX & SB850. The biggest feature of this combo is the SB850 now supports SATA 6Gb/s! We will also be taking a look at the ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard, one of their first models to utilize the new 8-Series chipset.

It's getting even closer to the launch of the newest Intel based motherboards revolving around a brand new chipset and supporting the newest 4th generation Intel processors. With that creeping in closer day by day, we are getting ourselves prepared for the launch, especially with us also preparing to get the latest content from the upcoming show; Computex.
To help keep our readers in the loop, as much as we can without breaking NDA, we have a whole host of previews coming up, which is where we find ourselves today, looking at the upcoming boards one by one, starting with the Z87 MPOWER from MSI.
Now you may remember the MPOWER branding from their Z77 offering that we looked at back in March, and sticking with the styling and branding used there, they have merged it over to the new chipset with this latest addition.

Whenever a new chipset launches, so does a new reference board from Intel, and today sees the DZ87KLT-75K being the board in question. Now while we can't divulge huge amounts of information in terms of features to do with the chipset and speaking about performance completely out of question, we can obviously comment on the design of the board and its aesthetics.
Firstly, it is worth noting that you are unlikely to see mass amounts of these boards appear within the retail sector, as they are generally used as reference and media viewing, though you may occasionally see them used in system integrator machines or for OEM purposes, but as it gives a further insight into the upcoming technology, we want to show as much as we can without giving too much away.
You'll notice some similarities with their previous reference boards including those from Z77 and X79 with the black PCB and blue colour scheme that surrounds it, but with Intel being Intel, it would be wrong not to use their own blue colouring, right? It uses an ATX form factor and is jam packed full of features, so we will try to highlight a few that we can see from a visual perspective, as we don't really want to get in trouble for breaking any NDA's.
