Our first Intel Z87 memory kit comes from Corsair and is part of the new Vengeance Pro line. Let's dive in and check it out.
Picking the right RAM kit has never really been easier thanks to Intel's XMP profiling and quite frankly your choice of RAM has probably never been wider either. Today we are looking at a kit from Corsair, and more specifically their Vengeance Pro DDR3 1866MHz kit with a pair of 8GB modules. These modules are geared towards the entry level of their brand new Vengeance Pro DRAM series and these modules are designed for overclocking, and for use with Intel's Ivy Bridge and Haswell platforms.
The kit we have here today is formed from a pair of 8GB modules running at 1866MHz with 9-10-9-27 CR2 and 1.5 volts. They support Intel XMP 1.3 and come in four different colours - Gold, Blue, Red and Silver. We of course have the silver version and end users will be pleased to know these kits come with a limited lifetime warranty.
The Corsair Vengeance Pro series of memory modules are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 8GB kits (2x4GB) to 32GB (4x8GB) with speeds starting at 1600MHz all the way to 2933MHz. The Corsair Vengeance Pro memory kits are optimized for use with the 4th generation Intel Core Haswell processor and are compatible with Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge platforms as well. For stable and easy memory overclocking, all Vengeance Pro modules are equipped with XMP 1.3 profiles so setting the rated speeds in the UEFI is merely a few clicks away. Each module measures 135mm x 44mm x 6mm and will come with non-user upgradeable accent clips in a variety of colors including black, silver, blue, red, and gold. The Vengeance Pro memory kit updates the heat spreader design of the original Vengeance memory modules slightly with the addition of a removable accent clip. These Vengeance Pro accent clip serve as additional structural support while handling and installing modules onto the mainboard. In our roundup last week we took a look at a range of high end Z87 boards which were ideal to build a performance based Haswell system on. Of course as well as our board and CPU we need a great kit of memory to help us maximise performance. Corsair aim to do exactly that with their new Vengeance Pro modules and today we have a 16GB kit on our test bench.
CORSAIR just recently launched their brand new Vengeance Pro series kits. These are designed to set new levels in value and overclocking. With a new stylish and aggressive looking heat spreader design, available in four different flavors: Blue, Gold Red and Silver color. The current products range up from 8GB to a whopping 64GB kit. The rated speeds start of at 1600MHz up to 2933MHz for the flagship version; especially the high end versions are being optimized for Intel's 4th generation Haswell processors. At Computex 2013, CORSAIR already showed higher specced versions, though if these will ever hit the shelves remains a big question. The today's reviewed Vengeance Pro kit is one of the more enthusiast targeted kits, comprising out of two 8GB 2400MHz Cas 10 DIMMs, with a red accent finish.
The other day we looked at the new Corsair Dominator GTX8 8GB kit and we found ourselves really impressed with what Corsair was offering us. The problem with this kit is that to achieve 2400MHz DDR, you need a CPU that's able to offer that kind of speed and as we mentioned in that review, out of the three 3960X CPUs we had, only one could achieve this speed with the other two maxing out around the 2300MHz DDR area.
Not too long ago, Corsair announced a whole new range of memory branded as Vengeance which would aim to focus on stability and compatibility in mind and with Sandybridge being the key choice and the moment and the new Bulldozer platform being released recently, memory like this is a prime example of what the market needs.
